The Middle East continues to burn, where is Obama?

At some point the obvious conclusion is that the U.S. policy in the Middle East is to keep the entire area stirred up, using the complexities of the region to foster continual unrest. The primary reason driving the policy is to dis-allow any single nation in the Middle East from becoming a regional power whether it be Turkey or Iran. If this is U.S. policy for the region then you will have to say it has been marvelously successful but at a significant cost. Unfortunately the instability has also had the nasty side effect of enhancing terrorist organizations such as ISIS -- that may have reach beyond Syria in future years.

As for the detente with Cuba it was long overdue to improve our engagement. I am just hoping the Castro brothers slip from power before many Americans become tourists.

Arms dealing is big business too, I'm sure Obama will get his cut

Trump will takeover Iraq's oil fields. Russia bombing ISIS from the North. US cleans them up in Iraq = not much left of ISIS in the Middle East. North Africa is another story. Either way, what we lack is political will. Not ability. US military could wipe ISIS from the map in less then one week if and when we find the political backbone to do it.

The Middle East is an eternal quagmire. Everybody hates each other there. Russia wants Syria? Let them have it. Syria will never have a reconciliation in the foreseeable future and the fighting there will go on for at least another generation. The Russians will have their Afghanistan all over again. Russia has a GDP less than 1/2 of ours, a population 1/3 of ours. They can scarcely afford long term foreign interventions as such will prove to be the seeds of their next and inevitable collapse.

VIVA The USA!
You're suggesting that their GDP per capita is greater than the U.S. GDP per capita. Is it?

The time has come for us to hit the Russian fighter planes out of the skies over Syria.

Russia is helping Assad to murder women and kids. We need to help the kids.

Lets get Russia!!

and oddly... and I am not sure about this... it might even be the right thing to do.

You might know better as I really don't trust any sources I am reading... but...

As far as I can tell we were arming al queda types and calling them the moderates and there is plenty of speculation on the net Obama and Clinton were in part responsible for the rise of Isis.

Finally, after seeing the news today how can anyone think giving money and nukes to Iran was the correct strategy.

Piezoe... once again... instead of pointing to a long speech from Kerry to Obama which no one can know ahead of time if it has an correlation with the truth... could you tell us in your words... how letting Iran get nukes over time and giving them money... is a smart...
Then given your explanation... what is the likelihood it will actually work out well?
We are not giving them money. Where did you get that idea? We are eventually, if they comply, going to lift sanctions. That will allow them to make more money.

I read that we have already released billions to Iran during the negotiation process.

and the administration admitted some of the 150 billion will fund terror...
so I not sure... why wish were trying phrase this the way you are.

Some of the $150 billion that Iran will receive from sanctions relief as part of its nuclear deal with the U.S. will likely be spent on terrorism, National Security adviser Susan Rice admitted on Wednesday.

“Once they start getting that money are there any restrictions on how the Iranians can use that money? Obviously they can use it to build schools and highways, but they could use it to support international terrorism, right?” CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked Rice.

“It is real, it is possible, and, in fact, we should expect that some portion of that money would go to the Iranian military and could potentially be used for the kinds of bad behavior that we have seen in the region up until now,” said Rice, who is most well known as the public face of the Obama administration in the weeks following the Sept. 11, 2012, attack at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

In a deal signed Tuesday, Iran agreed to concessions aimed at preventing it from developing a nuclear weapon. In exchange, the U.S. and five other nations agreed to lift sanctions against the Islamic regime.
