The Middle East continues to burn, where is Obama?

We are watching the effects of Obama's foreign policy playing out before our eyes. Iraq is a complete mess, the Taliban is taking over cities in Afghanistan, Libya is a complete mess, Syria is a complete mess and Obama is letting Russia flex its muscle there. The Russians are even flying planes in a NATO county's airspace. Now we are on the verge of an all out war in Israel.

This is the same moron who just made a nuke deal with Iran that is supposed to be great. If Obama thinks it is great, it will spell doom for the rest of us. Incompetence on display folks.

I would give it a like... but I really don't like it.
But, your perspective seems correct.

Well its all true. A lot of these foreign policy debacles can also be traced to Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State.

As president, what would you have done differently these past 6+ years?

Well for one, I wouldn't push out a leader who has cooperated with the United States for over 30 so that the Muslim brotherhood could take over.

I wouldn't have just handed over all the US gains in Iraq over so that ISIS could take over.

I wouldnt have given the taliban back 5 of their murders in return for a traitor who deserted.

I wouldn't have drawn a red line Syria only to look like a fool when Assad crossed it and Obama did nothing.

I wouldn't have capitulated to the Russians when they said get out of the way so we bomb Syria.

I wouldn't have sold out the Israelis so that Iran can get a bomb in 10 years.

I wouldn't have bombed Libya so that radical extremists could take over.

Those are just a few. There are a whole lot of others but we would be here for a llllloooooonnnnnnggggggg time.

In all seriousness. I know I screw with you quite a bit, but in all seriousness, do you actually think Obama has been good on foreign policy?

"Take over" is hindsight. The MB was just a part of the rebel groups we were supporting, not our favorite part, but a deal with the devil.

I wouldn't have just handed over all the US gains in Iraq over so that ISIS could take over.
You would have kept our troops there, increased them?

I wouldnt have given the taliban back 5 of their murders in return for a traitor who deserted.
Several senior military officers thought they were nobodies, and in light of "no man left behind", the deal was widely supported by the men in charge.

I wouldn't have drawn a red line Syria only to look like a fool when Assad crossed it and Obama did nothing.
The russkies also supported the position and urged Assad to cooperate and destroy his chem weapons, which he did, ahead of the schedule imposed by watchdogs.

I wouldn't have capitulated to the Russians when they said get out of the way so we bomb Syria.
More sanctions, or war with Russia?

I wouldn't have sold out the Israelis so that Iran can get a bomb in 10 years.
No one believes this position. Certainly not the experts.

I wouldn't have bombed Libya so that radical extremists could take over.
With Saddam out and the US troop pullout, which the American public supported, it is hard to imagine ISIS would not have risen.

Leaving the armchair generalship aside, in all seriousness, and as I am presently reading a history of the Roman Empire, whose deeds included repeated invasions of the ME all the way to Persia, (and interestingly, the almost complete genocide of Jews in Palestine under one emperor), and also considering that conflict if not open warfare in the ME has been in the news at least since I came of age, I don't think Obama has been much worse. Sure, in hindsight, he could have done better. No president has succeeded in bringing peace to that region, though many have tried. What's new with Obama is that he has a particularly zealous number of haters, and factoring out all the "terrible" things he's done which most other presidents have done as well, there is really only one remaining, unspoken, trait of his which explains that hate.

Plenty of zealous haters with Bush, too. Just on the other side of the aisle. The pendulum has swung back and forth with increasing amplitude.
