My experience is that people on the right say things like 'I never said he wasn't crazy, I just..'. He may be extremely aggressive but he is mostly a conman following a path of least resistance. Forces around him are opening little cracks from him to get through.
Crazy is a simple term, used by simple people. The types to label everything and anything 'fake news' all of a sudden.
