Why is the Bible in the school in the first place? Was it a bible school?

Whatever happened to separation of church and state. When I was a wee lad, there was no damned bible in the school. There was shit like Old Yeller and Watership Down. Those stories were WAY more tragic and traumatic than the Bible, but they didn't try to convert me to believe in a deity.

Get the Bible out of schools! Oy!

Back when I was in K-12 school, which was a long time ago, the schools had a section in the school library for religious books. The books were typically meant to support the comparative religious lessons in the history classes —- and included source books such as the Bible, Koran, etc. Don’t know how it is today in schools.
