“Mother Nature” or better yet the ecosystem will correct for imbalance. As our activities cause more and more harm to the ecosystem, the ecosystem will cause more and more harm to us.
It's difficult to think about this when we believe we're separate from Nature. Thinking holistically though, when we're mean or kind or indifferent to ourselves--there is no Other--then Nature can be said to be similarly mean, kind, or indifferent. We have agency, therefore Nature has agency. It's an irrational excuse to say that which is, is what ought to be.
This is an interesting point . Global warming is more likely due to increasing populations which will only increase the pressure on our natural resources . Govt's increasing societal welfare = increase population = increased consumption .All this leads to Govt intervention of resources and food production . Totalitarianism .
Not to mention that if U.S. makes some minor changes to reduce pollution or waste disposal into lakes and rivers it will help OUR environment but we will not make some global change when everyone else does whatever they want anyway.
eh...We could afford not to be 5x per capita emitters as much as other countries.
