The End of (the catholic) Church

Quote from stu:

Oh come on! What constraint of language!
How about using the words "divine creator" or "God" or if you want to be obscure, "something".

Point is you are making the contradiction. Speaking generally, as every being or thing whatever it may be, does appear to be in some form of decay, a being of whatever type eternal or temporal, not in a state of decay, would be a contradiction.

Where do you think the move towards greater entropy would be likely to finish up anyway? Possibly in a state of total entropy perhaps!?

You made a considered and rational post about the Constitution and religion earlier despite your own professed belief.
I took it you might know something of what you were talking about seeing you mentioned the arrow of time, or at least be as rational as you previously were.

My mistake.

1. G-O-D.
2. Total entropy, pretty obviously. Your point?
My point is that a timeless and eternal being (oh gawd, there I go again!) would be looking into our limited and physical Universe from a POV which would pretty obviously be outside of that time constraint, which is a function of our movement towards total entropy. A very simple point, actually. I'm having a hard time understanding why that's such a sticking point.
3. The Founding Fathers weren't arguing against religion in the First Amendment. I hope you didn't think that?
4. Cool your jets. If you have friends, guess what? Some of them might actually be, you know, religious. Or do you think they're all doofuses for believing?

Lucrum why do you think you'll roast in hell if there is a god. Why would it have to be there is a god = it has to be a Jesus or Jew or Islam god. Why couldn't it be a god who doesn't givea shit what we think.
What about Bigfoot, aliens living in human bodies, magic, elves, lepRechauns, flying carpets and of course genies in a bottle, if your keeping an open mind about the god myth(s) you should also keep an open mind about these.
No offense, but now you're sounding like an atheist desperate to convince me and yourself.

We flew over Lubbock on the way to Vegas Wednesday. It's not as big as I remembered. Still, I like the scenery out west.

No offense, you didn't get my point I guess. Youre kinda aggressive to atheist, especially since you are one. What's the physiology there?

I like Lubbock, especially the people, the scenery around Austin is much nicer in my opinion. And this time of year the weather is perfect down there. I just got back from a week in Georgetown and came back to a dirt storm in Lubbock, might be a dirty windy year.
Did you win any money in Vegas?

hey bigrrow...

whatis with this lie about God dribble vs aliens.
show me where I bring up the nature of God, or the Tuner on these science threads.

its atheists like no thinker who keep bringing the nature of God into this.

I don't gamble, I think Vegas is for suckers.

Same here, last time I was in a casino was in NO and spent 5 bucks and traded in my credits or whatever they call them for a jack and coke then went and watched some bad ass live music.

Isaac Asimov wrote about multiple universes in his novel The Gods Themselves in a far more entertaining and enlightening fashion than anything you'll find in the Old Testament.

I have the entire Foundation Series, all 15 books. My favorite author by far.

I'm at my moms tonight and she's watching a show on cable "finding Bigfoot".
That would be a good idea for a cable show "Finding God". It'd probably be fun to watch for believers and non believers.

Those types of shows are the worst type of TV imo. They pretend to be reality TV and they constantly produce no results and never come to any conclusions. That tripe show "Ghost Hunters" has over 150 episodes on the SyFy channel and has yet to produce a speck of hard evidence of any spectral activity anywhere in the world. It's just a constant con and a lame excuse to sell commercials.
