I do not know, in your country "cultural history", how caricatures of a frog might have been

It seems you are right. Poor democrat turnout produced the Clinton loss. My comments are in regard to the dynamics that produced the poor turnout, i.e., the successful vilification of Clinton, and the dynamics that were in play among Trump and Hillary voters that did turn out.
If you don't live in the U.S. (or you live/were born in Illinois) then you have no clue how the actual people here feel. Anyone notice how nervous the 'journalists' covering the election were all of last night? Well, they are more like 'actors' working for multi conglomerates that, more often than not, do not have our country's best interest at heart. And no, it wasn't because they are nervous about Trump, it is because they are nervous about their jobs. Their bosses will have to go outside of their news created at D.C. round tables and actually have to work for a living. Hillary was selling access to the highest bidder. The majority of educated sane individuals didn't want those dirt balls back in the white house.

I mentioned it months ago, to you I believe, the possibility that Sanders supporters, because they're not going to get European style socialism now now now, might just say "fuck it".
You did say that. But I disagree with you. I don't think it was the "Socialism right now". I think it is the complete and total disrespect of the DNC toward their own base, and Clinton standing by watching it all, complicit in it without a single word of shock or standing up for all the people she claimed she wanted to represent by renouncing and firing those people. On the contrary, they got jobs in Clintons inner circle!!!!!!!!!! It was shameless. Same with the African American vote. They are tired of getting a call once every four years.
Add to that Obama's carefree attitude towards real issues that people care about like the KeyStone pipeline, the ratification of the emergency Bush tax cuts, and you pissed off enough people that they just said: ENOUGH!
Finally, people are tired of having their children having to deal with same bathrooms for both genders. The Democratic Party has lost its collective mind.
There is no way the DNC survives this in its current form. Nor should it.
