The dream to trade.

I appreciate you being honest about that. Certainly not going to waste time now in executing my plan to get in your good graces and become friends.

Ole Handle is not the "hard ass" he is pretending to be now unless he has gotten grumpy in is "older" age. He has helped a lot of people including me. I still have his phone number tucked away somewhere.

I only trade the index- everything else is just guessing. Some people are good at that I'm not. Market character changes which is why one size might not fit all, and I believe we are often out of sync, so try to be market neutral.Of course you could trade the plunge protection team's low of the day buying frenzy- works 3/4 times.

That's the most important. In order to make it in the trading business, spousal support is a MUST!! Without their support, you won't make it no matter how talented you are or holy grail your trading plan/system is. Look at ALL of the successful traders who have made it, 100% of them all have/had a supporting spouse.
Let me expand on this if I may.
After my divorce I was single 23 years and spent all that time learning to trade by myself, no family, no wife, no kids, no mother, father brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, nothing, and very litle friends, so total zero.

My 2nd wife is terrific, but regarding trading, disagree on nearly everything.

From my point of view trading is like a religion, its personal to you.
Forget about sharing, even on ET most don't care about your system.

I prefer trading the ... plunge.

We are only given one life to live (AFAIK) so why worry about living a life someone else decides we should live instead?

There is another side of this, that you need to have principles that guide how you live otherwise you will fall for anything because it feels good in the moment.

Did you have more kids? What happened to the existing ones, did they just disappear?!

So long as that is the life you choose to live. Who am I to tell someone else they shouldn't live life if it feels good in the moment. BTW just so you know that is not how I live my life - in the moment.

I feel the other way. Index is guessing and single stocks is not (as much)

Is that what you are doing or is it still a dream?

Most of my friends have a vague idea of what I do. I don't talk about it unless they bring it up then we can trade stories. Most have their money with an advisor. Being polite no one asks how much I have or make, but they seem impressed when we talk about percent returns.

What's your percent return?

Hmm.. Interesting perspective, I dig it.
