It is a pipedream for most, look at all those who have earnings going into 401k/Roth, if markets go much lower as I hope, most will be below amount they put it.

If I run into another trader, I shut up, they not put in 44 years. They all think if "we" become friends, I will share my Grails, not a chance.

I am a gambler, but skilled. Why do best poker players have profitable years? Trading is better than poker, you don't have to be number one, but do well most years IF you know how to play the game.

Nobody in my life understands. I have invested over 20,000 hours and seven years into this project. Working for myself, trading and traveling is my dream. But when I attempt to talk to even my best friend about it I get such negative commentary. Can anyone relate?

because 99% can't make it.


You not only need to have a dream to trade.
You must have passion too.

And if you have a mentor, then chances for you to succeed will be high.

If you have put 20,000 hours and 7 years into it but it is still only a dream then I think you have answered your own question.

If you are trading to be accepted or esteemed by others, quit now.

The only people who respect traders are other traders.

Unless you run into another trader, it is useless to talk trading. They do not care or are instantly lost. My wife only cares if it is a good day or a bad day.

It is a waste of time trying to validate this field to those outside of it, you will be prejudged as a gambler, or someone who cannot work a real job, or worse. if you cannot get over this quit now.
Your real friends accept it, and view it as a mystery. But hey, do you really know all the details your friends do at their jobs all week, or just the big project there company is doing ? So your providing liquidity to the world's economy if you need a big picture purpose.

I go to a social and my wife is a nurse, people want to talk all night to my wife about Covid or other health issues, rarely is there someone to talk about trading, I accept it and learn about Covid and whatever else people are talking about.

It bugged me at first, but then I it turned into an advantage.
1) I further expanded my interests beyond trading, so I spend most all my relating with others in these interests. It also breaks the 24 hour consuming market mind focus.
2)I laugh to myself, and celebrate other's misconceptions about trading ( Where is a positive movie or documentary about Wall Street traders ? ) . If everybody was as interested and consumed by trading as I was, it would be harder to make profits.

The quicker you can make an attitude or ego adjustment about what others think, the more relaxing life will be and the probably more profitable trading will be. Good luck to you.

Trading is not for everyone. Some people just like the comfort of a stable income and a fixed schedule so they won't understand. That's ok. Just stick with what you enjoy doing and do it. When they see you making it, they will shut up. We have ALL been through it.

That's the most important. In order to make it in the trading business, spousal support is a MUST!! Without their support, you won't make it no matter how talented you are or holy grail your trading plan/system is. Look at ALL of the successful traders who have made it, 100% of them all have/had a supporting spouse.

Right man! It's easy when seen on other's trading platform and dreaming about the same. But real test is when one himself put hands into forex pond and then see how many fish you got!

Took me 12 years making it so time is not an issue. To me as long as you make it with a few years to enjoy it before Alzheimer's or death hits you whichever comes first, it's still an achievement and it's all worth it.

The bottom line is making it. It's the winner, the victor that controls all the narratives.
