The Russians live hand labor. There was video going around showing how Russians still use a human chain to load munitions onto trucks and planes, rather than forklifts and pallets. Ultimately, this is what hurts Russia. They don’t have the basic logistics down.
They also don't have infrastructure, which makes it really tough to have basic logistics in a country with so much area.
One thing that always did a good job of helping me understand the sheer size of Russia were the flights I took while living there. It was a shorter flight from JFK to Moscow than it was from Moscow to Vladivostok.

But the bookkeeper says the sanctions aren't working.
Even though the Ruble is rigged and MOEX can't get a bid, even though they banned short selling and also banned foreigners from selling at all and they closed the market for almost a month .... and ... and ...
But the publix bagger says that sanctions are working.
Despite Germany paying more to Russia now than before the crisis.
I would like to visit both places one day,i know New York well,but never been to Russia
True to this day,only because there seem to be no direct flights at all.
Direct flight might look different,great circle time over one hour less to Vladivostok.
Great circle distance is over 1000 km less to Vladivostok.
It's interesting that New York is 3 degrees latitude further South which corresponds to about 330 km extra.
Time difference is the same:7 hours minus and plus
