I agree. And the charity should be up to us... not some sellouts in washington being lobbied for my money with campaign bribes.

And yet the food banks continue to run out of money, the shelters for the homeless and battered women continue to close, children continue to go hungry.

God knows Bill Gates is entitled to spend $5M a week to rent a vacation yacht, but really?

The irony being that in a non capitalist society Moore wouldn't be a millionaire filmmaker. Michael would find himself "disappeared" or in a re-education camp getting his mind right.
That said, what we have currently isn't really capitalism.

first of all the federal govt has a virtually unlimited credit card. If people are going hungry its because the money is being channeled away from the important causes and going to community organizing groups and waste. Do we need more administrators making six figures?

2nd.. many productive americans see 50% taxes or more. leave the money with us and we will take care of those who need it.
workfare instead of welfare will also help. more people will be able to give as they get their skills back.

What I'm saying is that Moore would be dead or in prison in one of his beloved commie countries, and no, we no longer practice capitalism in this country, but we are still free for the time being to speak our minds without too much fear of persecution. Consequently, if you make a movie that is proactive enough in a political sense, there is a chance you can find enough useful idiots, be they left or right, to buy a ticket.

Why do you respond to him? Some people are clueless about many things including taxes. He's at best a 'mental midget'. He has no facts but always shoots from the hip. Challenge him with facts and he resorts to nonsensical drivel.

For the tax challenged .. max federal rate is 35%, max social security is 12.4%, CA max rate is 12.3% I believe getting the total close to 60%. Then again some people think that those have have worked their asses off to be successful should fork over most of their income to pay for those who (1) don't want to work (2) are here illegally and mooching off the system (3) wasteful pork projects and so on. I cut back on charitable giving due to the abusive tax system we have.
