I can accept that. But I do wonder, that suppose your child was in critical condition in the hospital and the Dr.s tell you, there is nothing medicine has to offer. I again suppose the next course of action is too just do nothing. Have lunch or read a book, and call the praying fools, fools.
an educated thinking person would know from the evidence that in all other cases where the parents of a dying child prayed nothing happened. i suppose as an act of desperation praying would do no harm but to actually believe there is some unseen deity in the sky that cares about your child after he, if he exists, has demonstrated millions of times in other cases similar to yours that he could care less is not rational.
the repulsive thing about situations like this is that the christian religion teaches that if you prayed and nothing happened it must be your fault. you didnt have enough faith or something. the gilt is transfered back to the grieving parent making them feel even worse about their situation.
But I do wonder, that suppose your child was in critical condition in the hospital and the Dr.s tell you, there is nothing medicine has to offer. you pray, you get your whole church to pray, you organize an internet prayer chain and the whole world prays for your child. as happens in every case the child dies. what do you do? go to church the next sunday like nothing happened?
