Just saw Biden’s address to Congress. Certain aspects of Joe’s speech were impressive, such as related to the economy and foreign relations. Other aspects, such as calling for unity while declaring, but not defining, who enemies of the state are, such as “White Supremacists”, and imposing additional restrictions upon on the Second Amendment without supporting its major original premises, suggest Biden may be more about creating a mechanism to increase conformance to Leftist thinking.
Biden's economic policy is cutting edge, world class in my opinion. It effectively compounds several worthwhile goals, including job creation that will likely create a positive economic feedback loop which will create prosperity and increased innovation for the United States. From what I’ve seen on the road, there are lots of infrastructure projects going on now and they are being efficient about them in multiple ways. Construction sites are being worked, instead of sitting there for years and unnecessarily slowing down traffic. Further, based on some trucking regulations be modified for the better, the Biden Administration is showing their responsiveness to industry suggestions and commitment to efficiency. Our government finally committed to efficiency? Stop the press!
Biden’s education plan helps address childcare concerns of many working parents by adding two years of early education and providing college subsidies. Unfortunately, Biden did not discuss quality of education. Public school education effectively amounts to daycare as it is. However, the combination of quality early, non partisan education, and an earlier starting age of children can be a profoundly powerful combination for future US competitiveness.
As far as our Second Amendment rights, sure, I can live without owning hundred round magazines, unregistered kit-built guns, and violent convicted felons from owning a gun, but where are our leaders commitment to supporting our rights, at least what’s left of them, after this latest infringement proposal?
I was bothered by Joe’s use of the words “White Supremacists will be considered terrorists” because of the likelihood our media will accuse any White person who does not toe the Leftist line as a “White Supremacist”, effectively “Cancelling” that person or worse.
I noted that Joe publicly assigned Kamala Harris several responsibilities, increasing the effectiveness and visibility of the Vice Presidency. Joe also expressed confidence several times in Kamala’s abilities, a sentiment I share. Kamala’s successful performance of her significant responsibilities should help increase voter confidence in her leadership capabilities. No doubt, Republicans, especially, will be watching critically as well.
Overall, I’m left with the impression that Joe Biden has been an exceptional President so far and surpassing expectations for my beloved Trump had he been reelected. I maintain my rating of “Above Average” in my poll of the expectations of the Biden-Harris Administration, with a positive outlook, especially if racism against people of non color does not become commonplace and there is some semblance of Constitutional commitment.

Your posting was much too lengthy to read and give consideration to. I was however able to get the gist of your communique right at the beginning andI would tell you----No aspects of his speech were impressive whatsoballsout save for the fact that he was able to stand up straight well after his bedtime. This country is in huge trouble with this "president".
I respect your opinion and value your input. As far as my posting length, it is merely the result if me supporting my statements.
I hope Biden does well, because the alternative for us, a country loaded with debt, from national to local governments, to businesses big and small, and consumers, is not pretty if he fails. Things like monetary collapse, market crashes, high unemployment, and widespread shortages of the things we take for granted could be up next.
We have reached the technological threshold of plentiful energy, allowing a cross the board increase in our standard of living. To keep this post “Digestible”, I will not go into all the positive repercussions of having plentiful energy. By the way, my use of the word “Energy” includes both human energy and the “Energy” needed to power our necessities and more.
Biden had a very good state of the Union last night. Simple and focused. Not hard to digest and a clear vision easy to understand. He even spoke well and had very few stutters. Good for Joe. He continues to be the underdog and underestimated which continuously gives him the effect of surprise, which multiplies his impact.
There are two gifts that just keep on helping Biden do well. First is the contrast with Trump is still fresh in people’s minds and second is republicans try to portray him as being mentally deficient. It really makes the job in front of him less difficult than it would normally be.

I think I can understand where you are coming from. The media relentlessly attacked Trump and the Democrats held impeachment inquiries/proceedings against Trump, what, three times. Now Biden calls for unity the same day another one of Trump’s attorneys gets raided as well as a couple of Republican political operatives. While Rudy never impressed me by any measure, to say the least, and the political operatives who got raided had involvement in setting Bill Clinton up in the Lewinsky affair, making them nasty people in my mind as well, I’m concerned this will increase resentment to the point of mortal political combat. Coronavirus was politicized for political gain, and while successful, has created some even deeper seated, potentially irrecoverable resentments, perhaps for a generation, towards the Democrats.
Our politics has gotten too toxic and it is adversely affecting our ability to get things done in this country. For example, the Biden Administration in concerned there are a lot of Americans who are either vaccine reluctant over safety concerns or are flat out refusing to get the vaccine over mistrust of our government and/or as a form of protest against Democrats. Our toxic political environment needs to end somewhere and soon in this competitive world, so we can come up with a modern, sustainable foreign policy doctrine that accounts for technological parity and new alliances, among other things. It may be no coincidence a massive Asian trade pact was set to be ratified hours after Biden’s scheduled-in-advance speech speech last night.
As technology and artificial intelligence accelerate, the exploitable differences between intelligence and the effectiveness of governance becomes smaller and smaller, creating the potential, if not the inevitability, of sudden and permanent shift in power on a global scale. In other words, we need to be nice and stop stepping on toes of other countries because we don’t like the way they are running things in their country. As a side benefit, other than avoiding constantly risking armageddon, we avoid increasing the number of veterans coming back home with PTSD and often ending up becoming homeless.
While our current relative systemic weaknesses versus other major powers may have created a unrecoverable situation for us, we still should try to preserve the positive aspects of our culture and political system. This will take great focus by our political parties and our media to create a vision the American people can galvanize around so we stop fighting each other 24/7. Save it for scheduled political debates and campaigning, along with agreeing to not politicize external events.
We must improve the quality of our education system to the point where it can accommodate the rapid learning abilities of our children. High school graduates should be well prepared to enter the workforce from day one. All secondary education should be cutting edge with specified institutional educational standards required to be maintained.
We must be energy self sufficient. If we have plentiful energy, we can have most anything else we need, such as food, clean water, natural resources from even low grades ores, as well as preparedness in case of adverse events, either natural, or manmade.
We as a country have a large amount of quality land in a favorable climate relative to our population. Even here, however, there is a huge opportunity to increase the productivity of our land by planting trees, cleaning up contaminated sites, and managing our water resources better. Having ample energy make the above achievable along with a positive return on investment, even beyond the jobs created.
We need to move beyond the the mentality of each side hoping the other side fails. For if we don’t, we will both get our wishes.
America is still the most powerful country in the world. As far as hoping the other side fails, I don’t think that’s a fair analysis. If republicans had any kind of winning policies i would support them. If you can actually name a good republican policy I would be impressed.
Depending upon one’s frame of reference, policies are like the game of Go, the line between each side’s policy objectives, like tactics and strategy, are oftentimes seemingly blurred.
In the end, good policy can be quantified by a metric called “Economy of force”, or similar principles. It is this application of economy of force or the compounding of problem solving ideas that impresses me so much with the Biden Administration. As a practical matter, the Biden Administration needs the political cooperation of Republicans to get good legislation passed as well as the ready adoption by large majority of the American people. Hence great effort needs to be put into closing our political divide. To be fair, Biden did propose many projects Red states would benefit greatly from, but a sincere and sustained effort by the Biden Administration, the Democrats, and the media into decreasing the toxicity of our political environment must be made, else a lot of good ideas simply will not be implemented or not implemented effectively, with each new administration inheriting a country that becomes progressively weaker.
