That's not quite true. English is embraced quickly by all immigrants. Just 2nd generation kinds donât want to speak Spanish at all and think of themselves as Americans. English is the coolest easiest to speak language ever.
My brothers came at age 7 and 2. They speak Spanish because we have insisted they do; otherwise they would have lost it years ago. My case is different, I came at 16.

Your point does stand with me. Nevertheless, all immigrants faced the same rejections when they first came. Irish, Italians, Germans, they were all pushed aside, discriminated upon and more. It took time for them to be accepted and merge with the majority.
Same thing will happen with Latinos. But I think it will be a little more difficult due to culture & education.
When the US controls who gets in and out...........this immigration talk would banish.
It has alot to do with the drug war. The USA is keeping mexico in perpetual drug war on purpose to take advantage. Texas is close to the border, so cannot be protected from side-effects.

Mexicans are very very different than all other immigrants. Because they are the only immigrants that don't want to melt, bring their own language culture food lifestyle and illegal family members.
There are some states where Spanish became the OFFICAL second language. California and Texas are 2 states where unofficially they outnumber whites. Mexicans are the #1 illegal immigrants in the USA in terms of number, effect on culture and drug trafficking and population boom.
They are the only immigrant group that refuses to learn speak and write in English and they created their own communities in several big cities. Their share of wealth and illegal activities are growing every year in the USA.
The only way American economic system will work properly is that immigrants have to melt in the pot. Every distinct culture, movement will be a drag to the American economy and culture which is happening now.
I live in Houston and as far as I can see, most elemantary and middle schools consist of mostly Mexicans or latin american descent kids. 20 years from now, majority of the young people in TX and CA will be spanish speaking and they will not be able to speak nor understand English.
We are becoming a lower class low IQ society. Slowly but surely.

I fear you are right. But trust me. They do absorb English and get Americanized very quickly. You just dont see it because you most people you see just got here.
here in Miami when I was in high school Cubans were with cubans, colombians with colombians and so on. But everyone, just everyone was listening to american hip pop music, certainly not vicente fernandez music. Dressing & behaving like american kids. We did however develop a subculture called spanglish. Which is nothing else that the melting point.
What you see is the worst and sadly the majority of latinos; Mexicans. These folks have a LOVE/HATE relationship with the USA. Their IQs are way low, but hey (and I say this with sadness. I dont want my kids to be like that) white American kids are already stupid and low in IQ when compared to the rest of the developed world.

You are in denial amigo. I have nothing against Mexicans. My friend of many years is 2nd generation Mexican-American. He own his own copier business and does quite well. He has a BS from UCLA. In fact, a lot of Mexicans are very hard workers as well as Cubans. But you deny the fact that a lot of them abuse the system having anchor babies and sucking off the social services tit. Do you know any illegals because I personally have known some. They generally speaking save up all their money and Western Union it home to Mexico. Even the Mexican government acknowledges this is the third largest source of GDP.
I want immigrants, including Latinos from any country. I want educated immigrants with money, not more lawn care people and housekeepers that end up being a financial net drain on the system. Look no farther than the hospitals around the country that have gone BK because of the requirement to serve illegals with bogus documents.
