Texas... vs Anti Science Fear Mongers... let us see what happens.

I don't know about Texas energy... but I do know that we have one of the least successful and most expensive energy policies in the world... here in CA.
Except for Solar incentives to homeowners.

I remember reading in the Union Tribune years ago... I think I posted here that many of the regulators and politicians were being financed by the companies they were supposed to be regulating

My point being tens of thousands of Californians have moved to Texas as well as Seatte and Oregon. You already see the mess they made out of Seattle and Oregon so, my guess is Ex-Californians now in Texas supported this all green energy BS which resulted in this huge mess. And if you have California politicians among them, you know they would run for public office in Texas as well.

that is anecdotal...

do you have proof of the 90 percent number or not.

And besides... I am for freedom... if businesses wish to require masks great for now.
People and business can choose.

The point I have made and will continue to monitor is that your fear mongering and predictions have failed.... dramatically... so far.

Just a partial list of the over 90% of businesses in Texas still requiring a mask...

Texas no longer has a mask mandate — but here are some major businesses requiring them

Some major companies in Texas will still require customers to wear face masks, despite Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision Tuesday to lift the statewide mask mandate.

Businesses are allowed to enforce safety measures after the new mandate goes into effect March 10, Abbott said.

Here is a list of businesses that will require mask wearing, either with employees or customers. The list will be updated.

Alamo Drafthouse
All coronavirus policies, including mandatory mask wearing, remain in place at the major movie theater chain.

“We are only following the guidance of the CDC and medical experts, not politicians,” Alamo Drafthouse said in a Twitter post. “Right now, at what we hope is the beginning of the end of COVID, the health of our teams and our guests remains this company’s top priority.”

H-E-B
The grocery store chain said Tuesday shoppers will be encouraged to wear masks, but they will not be mandatory.

“Though statewide policy has changed, our store policy has not. We continue to ask customers to be masked while in our stores,” H-E-B tweeted to several Texans. “We will still require our partners and vendors to wear masks while at work. We have & continue to follow local/state orders on masking regulations.”

Target
Shoppers and employees at the national retailer will still be required to wear masks, a company spokesperson said.

“We require guests to wear masks or face coverings in all of our stores, except for guests with underlying medical conditions and young children,” a Target spokesperson said in a statement to McClatchy News. “We also require all store team members to wear masks at work and have provided them with reusable and disposable masks. Those who have been vaccinated for coronavirus are still required to wear a mask and follow all social distancing guidelines, in line with current CDC guidance.”

Albertsons
The grocery store chain with 37 locations in Texas will follow similar guidelines as H-E-B. Shoppers will be encouraged to wear masks, but only employees will be required to wear them, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Macy’s
Macy’s will not change its existing policy, which requires shoppers and employees to wear masks, a company spokesperson told McClatchy News.

The department store said in July in announcing its mask policy that it will provide masks to customers.

Kroger
Kroger said in a statement to McClatchy News it has a responsibility to keep its employees, customers and communities safe, and thus will continue enforcing its mask policy.

“Although the statewide mask mandate has been lifted in Texas and the state has made great strides in combating the pandemic with COVID-19 testing, antibody testing and COVID-19 vaccines, to ensure the safety of our customers and associates, Kroger will continue to follow health and safety guidelines recommended by the CDC and other leading medical authorities and require all associates and customers working and visiting our stores to wear a mask as previously implemented in July of 2020,” a Kroger spokesperson said.

CVS
CVS Pharmacy will keep its existing policies nationwide, including in Texas, a spokesperson told McClatchy News. Its face mask policy went into effect in July.

“If a customer is not wearing a mask or face covering, we will refer them to our signage and ask that they help protect themselves and those around them by listening to the experts and heeding the call to wear a face covering,” CVS said. “For safety reasons, our employees are directed to avoid escalated confrontations with non-compliant customers, and to instead help them complete their purchases as quickly as possible.”

Walgreens
Likewise for Walgreens, which will also keep face mask policies in effect. Walgreens has asked customers at all locations nationwide to wear masks since July.

“Walgreens is not changing our policy,” a spokesperson told McClatchy News. “We require masks to be worn in all our stores.”

Tom Thumb
The grocery store chain with 64 locations in Texas will follow a similar strategy as H-E-B and Albertsons.

Tom Thumb shoppers will be encouraged, but not mandated, to wear masks, according to The Dallas Morning News. Employees will still be required to wear them.

Best Buy
The electronics retailer will also keep its existing COVID-19 policies. It has required masks at all of its locations since July.

“To continue to ensure the safety for our employees and customers, we are maintaining our nationwide mask mandate in accordance with CDC guidelines,” a Best Buy spokesperson told McClatchy News.

The Home Depot
Like many other national businesses, The Home Depot will also keep the same policies it has had in place for months.

“The Home Depot requires associates and customers to wear masks while in our stores or any Home Depot facility nationwide,” a spokesperson told McClatchy News. “We’ll continue to follow CDC guidelines, as we’ve done all along.”

Costco
To avoid confusion, Costco will continue to require masks for shoppers and employees at all of its locations, according to KXAN. Costco has had a face mask policy in effect since May.

ALDI
The grocery store chain continues to require shoppers to wear masks, a company spokesperson told WFAA.

“For the health and well-being of the communities we serve and for the protection of our employees, we will maintain our current nationwide policy requiring all employees and customers to wear a face covering when shopping in our stores,” AlDI said in a statement. “We will continue to assess any new guidelines issued by the CDC, and will keep our customers informed of any future changes.”

Amen...
We learned yesterday or the day before Fauci said the Federal Govt won't mandate vaccine passports either.

Gov Abbott issues an executive order banning "vaccine passports" in the state, arguing that rewarding those who have taken steps to be safe and keep others safe violates the Constitutional rights of other Texans to be morons.

The huge majority of businesses and localities in Texas still require masks. This helped keep COVID in check over past few weeks.

LOL

But in India, its religious gatherings despite massive compliance that is causing the case rise. In Texas however, it is "somewhat" mask compliance causing the decline.

maybe the Texans don't go to religious events.

What a sham you are.

Gov. Abbott with more false claims and demonstrating he does not understand the basics of science any better than he understands electricity distribution.

Gov. Greg Abbott's claim that Texas is 'very close' to herd immunity is not 'even close' to being true, says expert
https://www.businessinsider.com/experts-dismissed-gov-abbott-herd-immunity-claim-2021-4
  • Gov. Greg Abbott claimed the state of Texas is "very close" to herd immunity.
  • The claim has been disputed by experts.
  • "There is no way on God's green earth that Texas is anywhere even close to herd immunity," an epidemiologist told the New York Times.
Gov. Greg Abbott's claim that the state of Texas is "very close" to herd immunity has been dismissed by a leading expert, who said there was "no way on God's green earth that Texas is anywhere even close to herd immunity."

Abbott told Fox News on Sunday that: "When you add all the number of vaccinations that have taken place, as well as all of the acquired immunity from all of the Texans who have been exposed and recovered from COVID-19, it means very simply it's a whole lot more difficult for COVID-19 to be spreading to other people in the state of Texas.

"More than 70% of our seniors have received a vaccine shot. More than 50% of those who are 60 to 65 have received a vaccine shot. I don't know what herd immunity is but when you add that to acquired immunity, it looks like that could be very close to herd immunity," he said.

Herd immunity is when enough people in a population have immunity, either through vaccination or from past infection, to stop a disease from spreading uncontrollably.

Scientists are unsure what percentage of a population needs to be immune from COVID-19, but many say it is likely to be 70% above or higher, the Associated Press reported.

Dr. Antony Fauci, the leading US infectious diseases expert, predicted in December that the herd immunity figure could even be as high as 85% for coronavirus.

The emergence of new, more infectious could also complicate attempts to determine herd immunity threshold.

However, even by Gov. Abbott's terms, Texas does not appear to be "very close" to herd immunity.

Just 19% of Texans have received 2 shots of a coronavirus vaccination, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures cited by The Washington Post.

Further figures cited by the Post which were compiled by Columbia University predicted that, by January, a total of 31% of Texans had contracted the virus.

That could mean that at least 50% of Texans have immunity to COVID-19 but appears to fall well short of herd immunity.

Michael Osterholm, a leading epidemiologist told the New York Times on Sunday of Abbott's claim: "There is no way on God's green earth that Texas is anywhere even close to herd immunity."

He added: "Look no further than Michigan and Minnesota, which have much higher rates of vaccination than Texas. And we're already seeing widespread transmission."

In short your "experts" are lying to you...

If they were to read the studies regarding vaccines and spreads... they would have read that many have said that the vaccinated spread less because they are less sick and infectious spread for shorter periods of time.

This same logic applies to the healthy non vaccinated. They get less sick and they spread for shorter periods of time.

So herd immunity will come in at much lower levels than the moron Fauci... or you comprehend
The math changes from the vaccinated spread rate...
Because those models treat everybody as an equal potential spreader.
That is not how it works in real life.

I have presented to you many studies on that.

its still improving in texas...
natural and vaccine immunity working together to create herd immunity?
even from the current variants? we will see...

but it is looking strong for the no lockdown let the low risk live
concept... right now.

Imagine combining strong protection for the high risk
and letting the low risk live... concept....
We might be done with Covid by now.

Look at the charts for Texas... it even surprised me... given the UK variant.

You have been massively stupid and wrong... and so have your experts.

So they are either lying about the stats... or they must be close to herd immunity with their current virus and variant levels.
