$53k for an SUV that is fast as hell (AWD?), gets unbelievable gas (haha) mileage, can kinda-sorta drive itself in many circumstances, AND you get a $7,500 tax credit? That is starting to sound like a helluva deal.

I wonder if they are discounting the Model S Plaid. That would be the one I'd really be interested in picking up.

I am simply highlighting a sentence (bullet point) that was laid-out in the article you posted.

The crux of the line is...If you are poor and owe no tax, you do not get the tax credit on the vehicle. So poor people will pay the 53K, and not get the magical $7500 tax credit.

Well it needs to compete with China now that came out with a cheaper knock-out so it has no choice. Great thinking to move its manufacturing plant to China. But I have to thank China for this one. Been thinking of buying a Tesla for a long time.

Growth rate has to be higher than 40percent to keep up when they cut their gross margin by 20percent

I highly doubt it. I've had the Model S in the P100D, the Dual Motor, and the Plaid configurations. All I've seen them do is get more expensive over time.
