What is the difference between Meta and Telegram. Meta takes action against Child Sexual Abuse on its platforms by deleting posts, terminating accounts and cooperating with law enforcement to arrest posters. Telegram refuses to take any action against child sexual abuse posters and material.

Now that their CEO has been arrested and it's been made clear that they've been facilitating the creation and spread of deepfake revenge porn and child sexual abuse material all over the world, Telegram would like everybody to know they're very, very sorry for getting caught.

Telegram has apologised to South Korean authorities for its handling of deepfake pornographic material shared via its messaging app, amid a digital sex crime epidemic in the country.

It comes days after South Korean police said they had launched an investigation into Telegram, accusing it of "abetting" the distribution of such images.

In recent weeks, a large number of Telegram chatrooms - many of them run by teenagers - were found to have been creating sexually explicit "deepfakes" using doctored photographs of young women.
