Remember Aesop's fable about the scorpion and the frog, and one's nature? The puzzling thing about this to me is that Trump could have avoided all the personal stuff and still be comfortably ahead.

You're right to the degree that there are any number of variables that could blow up Trump and Hillary. Cruz and Kasich are longshots at this point. Crazy as it sounds Bernie has the least unknowns. He is what he is and has been for decades. Party establishment types on both sides must be crapping their pants. Making the usual shell game work this time around will be more than a little problematic for them.Anyone could be electable with e-mail gate hanging over Hillary's head, and Trump liable to say anything at any time. The socialist is starting to look like the safe alternative.
ok, but without Trump the horse race is over. Get rid of Trump and everything goes back to normal. Bernie is interesting but the democrats always keep a radical left in the wings. Nothing new. Come primary time they will rally around Hillary if she is running against just another republican. The republicans will glady give up the whitehouse if they can keep the house and the senate, and on a state by state basis the republicans still look good. Bernie vs Trump and the republicans could lose everything because people like me will just vote a straight democrat ticket. You're right to the degree that there are any number of variables that could blow up Trump and Hillary. What I want to see is a one sided victory in all areas. The WH, congress and senate, all one party. Frankly, at this point I don't give a shit which one it is. What we need is a move off the proverbial dime, left or right all the way. We need to see who can do what they say they can do. At that point it's either pass/fail. No excuses about one group blocking the other. That is highly unlikely to happen, but it is what the country needs to see.ok, but without Trump the horse race is over. yes, that's the way a lot of us feel. I know I do. I'm a charter member of the ABTI Party. My state made it intentionally hard for me to vote since they eliminated the "Incumbant" designation on the ballot. Now how am I supposed to know who to vote against? What I want to see is a one sided victory in all areas. The WH, congress and senate, all one party. I can understand your sentiment, but I'm not willing to risk a "smoking ruin" like Kansas (Drumpf, Cruz, Rubio, Sanders) for the emotional release of a pass play touchdown. "Three yards and a cloud of dust" is the best way to make progress these days imo. What I want to see is a one sided victory in all areas. The WH, congress and senate, all one party. Maybe I'm just too old to care anymore. I'm tired of seeing the country being nibbled to death by a duck. Maybe the left is correct. Great, lets go full tilt left. Maybe the right is correct. Fantastic, lets to full tilt right.I can understand your sentiment, but I'm not willing to risk a "smoking ruin" like Kansas (Drumpf, Cruz, Rubio, Sanders) for the emotional release of a pass play touchdown. Well, to be fair, only one party made it its mission to ensure that the other party gets nothing done, and adopted the principle that compromise is evil and wrong. Our system of checks and balances, while a good premise, has now become an excuse to do nothing which is just what these bastards want. None of them are interested in a solution to anything. They want the issue to yap about on the endless campaign trail.
we sent them to Washington to get nothing done because the last thing that got done was ACAWell, to be fair, only one party made it its mission to ensure that the other party gets nothing done, and adopted the principle that compromise is evil and wrong.
That's true if you believe the world came into existence in 2008. Of course that's not when it all began and to try and suggest that the democratic party has never employed the same game whenever it has been in their benefit to do so is absurd. And yes, there is a moral equivalence between the two parties. One is as corrupt as the other.Well, to be fair, only one party made it its mission to ensure that the other party gets nothing done, and adopted the principle that compromise is evil and wrong.
