Technical analysis

LBR was making a living trading for decades before the self proclaimed Youtube gurus showed up & began selling their crap.
The only track record of hers that is verifiable is this right there.

Everything else is just hearsay. Just cuz you can google something, doesn't mean its true.

Not doubting she used to make a living from it, her edge dried up. Now she prob trades but id bet her performance isn't as good as she claims.

Great post and I completely agree that for 98% of retail traders, they would be far better off finding a job they love and dollar cost averaging....

There are are guys like Minervini,Ryan and Kulamagi who are similar in style, but IMHO its their money management/position sizing first and foremost that adds alpha

Lets see a 5 year track record of the TA heretics
I have a full time career and right now i enjoy following the markets with risk capital because its fun. Agreed most ppl would be better off this way. All my friends who talk stocks are just gamblers, using the stock market as the veil of "investing". No positive EV there for them.

99% of my wealth has been building my net worth in Vanguard funds for almost a decade. I take 1% and have some fun doing market research.

Im not kidding myself into thinking im going to generate alpha year in - year out.

They want me to sign up to read whatever is there. I got enough clutter on my computer already. Can you summarize whats said or paste a screen shot.

Was LBR actually trading for Granat or were they just using her strategies?
Ill show my research and sources and you can come to your own conclusions.

This is the only public info on her track record I can find.

Thanks Mike;
It seems that Granat outperformed the S&P by quite a bit.
I couldn't find much more. Retired in 2015 and trades her own account.
Why do you doubt that she knows how to trade.
Her books are quite expensive. nowhere near best sellers.
I at one time believed that there was a secret that the professionals knew that we retail traders might be able to buy. No such luck. The secret is to cut your losses.

I once saw a YouTube video about an institutional trading trainer. His point was institutional traders see what we see in the market. They are just better trained and more experienced, and with access to better tools/software and risk management.

For example, institutions have dedicated risk management teams and well defined risk criteria and processes, such as hedges, etc.

I went from being a religious desiple of these people learning from their courses and books, to now being synical AF.

They are all FOS in my opinion. Let's see LBR's track record over the past 20 years and see how it holds up.

Any of these BS artists selling books. Do their methods work as well as they claim?

Lets see a Tax return and see how your trading income compares to your income from webinars, member sites, and selling BS.

I am calling BS. Edges are hard to find, and the last thing you want are more eyes on it once you found one.

My own process has been, read some academic books on how markets work, do your own backtesting and form your own conclusions.

and most importantly, understand you WONT do better than indexing. Just accept this is a fun game, and your willing to accept that in your endeavor.

WFC had a good idea also;
we not only want to see your company tax returns[ for mortgage loan ]; we want you to sign the form that lets us see the form the IRS has on that.
Worked well, good CPA + truth................................

No question about it. She absolutely did well.

My issue is id like to see how she did over a 20 year period. Might sound cliche but anybody can beat the SPX for a few years, but in the long run nobody does.

So I guess what I'm saying is how do we know she still does as well as she claims? These patterns she teaches, these newsletters and membership sites, how do we know it does as well as she claims now?

We cant, and therefore, I would just question everything and everybody who talks about trading.

I believe it was LBR that said she could give you her trading plan and you probably wouldn't be able to trade it because you wouldn't trust it.

I suppose you can't buy trading success, you have to earn it.

Im calling out everybody. Not just her. They are all FOS, including all vendors on this site. They all just hide behind the BS disclaimer that is paraphrased like "buyer beware, this isn't real trading. its education".

More money in selling the dream and software than in the edge itself.

Also she said in one of her videos "do the backtest yourself. don't take anybody word for it".

Only public track record of hers out there. Credit where credit is do - she did well on this timeframe. But we have no way to see how she has done since.
More money in telling stories about the floor than actual trading.

True in some cases\
IBD founder sold his data + moving averages newspaper for $275,000,000 to WSJ parent co.
Most likely made more than FFTY royalties .
NEVER did what goals were on single stocks/ but books were well worth it.
I dont have LBR Sardine Trading book but great sardine sell $199+/ joke of hers.
And the WMT cashier did ask me once ''you like those stinkin sardines'' LOL:D:D
