Teacher resigns after reading students book about gay couple

I corrected your implicit misrepresentation of my comment. I have explained you were reading my comment with too narrow a definition of the words I wrote.

the book is about gender (or sex) and sexual attraction and sexual roles. (sexual relations is not necessarily limited to intercourse)

prince rejects princesses, falls for prince gets married and and kiss in the end.

that is not material a teacher should be reading to 3rd graders.
live and let live. stop indoctrinating.

Just accept the Gay lifestyle! What's so hard to understand? They are sex addicted men that like to f%^k each other in their hairy, stinking, a%%holes and women that hate men! Where's the love nowadays? You just have to be tolerant! [very tolerant in fact because eventually the very best jobs will all be gotten at the gay bars, you'll be working for queers all your born days LOL]

Many gays not posting on elitetrader are nice people... like everyone else.
Sadly, some and perhaps many gays were molested as kids.
As I was told multiple times by probation departments (among other things) when kids are sexualized their "gender orientation" can be seriously impacted.

I have zero reasons to not treat gays as I would anyone else.
We are all people with the same rights.

My issue is radicals pushing their agenda in inappropriate places.

I am going to go out on a limb and make a wild guess that the gender identity of "kids" will not be in the least impacted by reading them a story book, nor even by having them switch clothes with the opposite sex for a day. This seems much to do about nothing.

If I'm right, than the only possible, if unlikely, impact of this affair on the kids would be to make them a little more accepting, or a little more comfortable in their eventually established sexual orientation, and perhaps reduce the potential for psychological problems and suicide by some small amount.

Many people, particularly in the Bible Belt, where I live, are annoyed by anyone who, in their opinion, wears their alternate sexual orientation a little too prominently. In the Deep South, and rest assured any "overchurched" community anywhere can be an honorary member, we don't mind as long as you entertain and charm us, but please keep your "deviant" behavior to yourself. The young man, the errant teacher, was awfully unwise if he intended to keep his job, or else was ready to move on. If, as has been suggested, he fabricated an incident to cover his tracks, he should be fired.

The intolerance of homosexual behavior by Christians is far outweighed by the celebration of it in the entire remainder of society. If homosexuals kill themselves because Christians don't accept homosexuality, then the same phenomenon should occur elsewhere, shouldn't it?
For example, the neo nazi, kkk and other such movements are so virulently demonized in our society that they face little else but ridicule in every direction they turn.
So, if someone can show me that those individuals kill themselves at a far higher rate than the rest of society, maybe i'll consider the proposition that homosexuals kill themselves because Christians don't accept them. Until then, i'm not buying it.

as you stated you went out on a limb and made a wild guess. My view is that if people are going to go out on a limb and make wild guesses with third graders it should be the parents... not the 3rd grader teacher or the "vice" principal or even you piezoe. In short if you wish to read that book to third graders... have your own kids.

respect the culture of the community, especially when dealing with 3rd graders and sexual orientation. Why invade their childhoods with adult issues? messing with 3rd graders is disgusting to me. they are still so fun.

Respecting the culture of the community is much of what is being defended in South Carolina.

The "indoctrinations" conducted by parents are not necessarily better for children than those conducted by educators.
