Doing my best to synthesize the Double 6.731 EMA (my software doesn’t have it), here’s how it went:

09:43 Sold @ 1010 ¾
10:10 Covered @ 1007 ¾

10:18 Bought @ 1006
11:17 Covered @ 1012 ¾

11:22 Bought @ 1011 1/4
01:17 Covered at 1008 3/4

Plus 7 ¼ on the day.

Obviously I am pleased with 7 ¼ points on a day that to this point has had an 8 ½ point range...but I am not sure if I am calculating the indicator properly.

I am done for the day – too much strain doing this...

Not such a good day - in fact, it was awful.

7 round turns (more then I care to list) - 7 losers, for a total of -13 3/4 points, plus commission.

Frankly, I don't know what went wrong. The Double EMA tested very well - in over five years of backtesting, there was NEVER a day this bad.

Tomorrow is another day - maybe.

It could have been worse - but not much.

3 trades - the first two had me up 4 1/4 points. The third trade, and the Fed announcement cost me 7 1/2 for a net loss of 3 1/4 on the day.

I don't know what to say - I've been down this road once or twice before. But I still have faith in the Double EMA - we'll see what happens.

Fibs, and the fibbing fibers who tell them

A fair and balanced view.

A couple of weeks ago, 40yotrader showed up after a nine month absence -- or apparent absence. He reported wildly successful results, and informed us that while he had not posted, he was still with us as a lurker. he further stated that he would not be posting much, if at all in the future, but would still be in the background, lurking.

Of course his boosters were pleased to hear from him, and congratulated him on his success.

Do you keep a "Buddies" list? I do, and guess who is at the top of it? That's right, 40yotrader. The purpose of the "Buddies" list is to let you know when someone is "on line". Strange thing is that for the nine months between his last journal entry, and his recent post, the guy's name never showed as being on line. Nor have I seen him since. Could it be that our fellow member was, and continues to be telling fibs? Is it possible that 40yotrader is the figment of someone else's imagination?

The Double EMA suggested going long - it was a bad suggestion.

One round turn - minus 7 points.

The system has tested profitable for every month over the last five years. Even though I have now had three losing days in a row, I still believe in it.

Pruitt, who tests systems for a living, says in all these years hes never found one system based on idicators that worked. He is not talking about daytrading but to me the implications are a warning about relying on them too much.
