Taliban in Kabul as President Flees

Biden is just paying price for the combined mistakes of Bush, Obama, and Trump. The war was lost a long time ago, but each president just kicked the can down the road.

In 2020 Trump made a deal with Taliban to withdraw the US troops . Had he been re-elected, this sh*t would be on him.
And you'd have the knobgobbling RetardedTwo defending him.

That was a big mistake by the Trump administration but we say that in hindsight now that it has bitten Biden on the ass.

But not because he's Biden, or a democrat, or even not-Drumpf. Because when we left the Taliban is the strongest power remaining.

You can run a search on all these BDS afflicted contrarian clowns on the topic of Afghanistan and see a complete 180 from "daddy Trump pulling us out of forever wars and fuck them dirty Muslims" a year ago. They think they're being cute finally getting a win on slippery Joe, but nobody but Fox et.al. will care in a month's time unless the Taliban go full retard w/executions. FWIW, contractors on the ground are saying the Tali's don't appear to be on that kind of rampage at the moment

To be totally fair, we should not be in a position where our people on the ground in Afghanistan can be subjected to whims of whether or not the taliban are decapitating people on Mondays or Tuesdays.

Biden fucked this up. To be sure. He misjudged the Afghans ability to protect their own country while we withdrew over a short amount of time. He should not have relied on them to provide that security. But here we are. Still no American casualties during the withdrawal, not even skirmishes with the taliban. If that holds for a few weeks (yes, it will take that long) it’s best case scenario at this point.

Shortly we may face the same situation with Iran. If we take military action with Iran -- we should not be attempting to occupy the country. Merely destroy their military, capture the leaders, eliminate their electric grid, nuclear facilities, etc. Don't stay around and attempt to occupy the place.

The concept of "your wrecked it, you own it" no longer applies. Those days are over. The new motto needs to be "Attack us, enjoy fixing the mess. It's on you".

You have no business being in Iran period unless there is a declaration of war from the other side. Unfortunately in terms of world peace I do agree that the US may be the most dangerous country on the planet these days. Doesn't make it right if you can do something.

lol yeah, let's try this again on a country 100xs better equipped...

This a very sober and reasonable analysis.

If you look at the history of Embassy evacuations and that of key personnel that supported Americans...many of these evacuations have been a disaster...some of which resulted in Americans losing their lives.
  • Yet, I tend to look at the history of these evacuations in one way...had it not been done...more American lives would have been lost no matter the way it was done.
Thus, I believe a slow withdrawal, would have resulted in more lives lost considering it was being televised globally.

Yet, I keep reading about the parallel with Saigon evacuation. If I"m not mistaken, many Americans were killed in the evacuation of Saigon. So far, we have not lost a single American life in the Kabul evacuation and the Taliban has not fired a shot to kill anyone that we know about.

People holding onto the outside of those C-17 Aircargo planes is a very disturbing sight but history has shown that such was likely but I didn't expect to see people holding on to the outside of Aircargo planes like Tom Cruise.

I thought they would try holding on to Helicopters. Yet, it was Biden that said NO to his military recommending leaving 3k - 5k troops behind to protect / control an evacuation...that's on him as the Commander in Chief.

Maybe I'm selfish as a veteran. If we can get out of Afghanistan without any more American lives being lost...it has to be what America wanted but Afghanistians falling out of the Sky...sad, very sad when the Afghanistan leaders abandon their people to the Taliban without a fight.

Afghanistan leaders, U.S. Republicans and Democrats, Afghanistan military are at fault but I put this disaster more on the Afghanistan leaders / military.
