Okay, I get your point. However, I think for most people, they should not pick stocks. I was referring to buy and hold as buying and holding the market indexes like the S&P 500.

Again why are you on a trading forum if buy and hold is your religion?

How about presidential election-year and mid-term election? some people believe in that and use it predict if the stock market will be strong or weak a particular year.

If you just use TA, your success rate is going to be like 1% or less.
so improve your success rate to say 50%,
you have to
- look at the bigger, macro picture of the market

- use inter-market correlations

TA is study of price + volume + i perceive you are aware of that.
Some posters here are not; + let US see them put in any order with out getting a price or volume on the fill/LOL

Simply, I strongly doubt they're viewing those downtrend Covid numbers as "randomness".

Apples and Oranges; not comparable or analogous. I can't say whether TA works or not as I have not seen any scientific evidence one way or the other. But there is a clear science to Epidemiology. Completely different domains of inquiry.

I CAN say the truth, since you can read\ no one makes money in markets without TA.
TA is study of price + volume\ sure you dont have to study much\ but enough to put that on the order with broker. LOL
Same way with REALTY broker. Same way if you plant or buy an apple or orange orchard
