Ok, fair enough. It's no Chicago, but it's certainly trending towards more earners leaving - especially now that the SALT tax credit goes away. Mark my words. The next few years are going to show a decline for NYC.

My brother (American) and his family live just outside of Stockholm. My brother's politics are moderately liberal and it has been interesting to watch his attitude change about the migrant situation there as things have unfolded. At first it was like "there are some well educated people in the lot...this is good for Sweden.". Then it was like "yeah, this is definitely a problem". Their eldest son just joined the Swedish military so perhaps he might be able to provide some perspective on the situation on the ground to the rest of his family.

The SALT deduction was merely a way to transfer money from the Federal Government to the States, allowing them to run much more bloated governments at the local and state level while still keeping rich and middle class tax payers in the state. Removing it merely levels the playing field between states and is the right thing to do.
You get what you pay for in this world. States that invest in education and transportation benefit the entire country with better qualified workers and easier means of conducting business.
