I think they're now realizing that the longer this disease goes on...less stories about the old becoming ill / death and more stories about the young.
It's simple, admit wrong now so that you will not need to repeat it again when more young people become ill / die especially when the 2nd wave happens around the world.
Back in the U.S...there's a growing fear of the illness / deaths since memorial day weekend when some states had begun reopening. Now that more states are reopening or going into the next phases...growing fear that the 2nd wave will come soon than later.
On the flipside, more people are getting out and doing small social events. Heck, even some sports are preparing to re-open although at limited capacity for the fans.
Regardless, Sweden is doing much better than I expected.
Yet, same trend all over...less older people are dying and more younger people are becoming ill / dying. A pattern associated with some of the prior Pandemics...a year where all the global chaos are connected.

Tegnell and Swedish authorities were criticised for not taking sufficient measures to protect the elderly and residents in care homes. They have now apologised.
The Swedish authorities have repeated in the media that the fight against the coronavirus is "a marathon, not a sprint".
