Guys, this hatred is getting absurd. If you guys stop posting about how much you hate him, he won't have a reason to respond. As for whether or not he should or not post again, look, most guys that say that on this site do two things. They leave and come back under another alias or they come back. God knows how many "this is my last post ever" threads we have had on ET. And they always come back.
Baron created an addictive product. I think what draws people to ET is not the market or information like many on here claim, you are drawn to ET for the same reason I love watching "Mad Men". I'm drawn to the characters. And that is what ET has, a lot of characters. Face it, there are far better message boards out there that are loaded with solid information on trading and programming and is populated by hedge fund managers, prop traders and professionals. But they are also boring. You guys come here for the entertainment. You should just admit it. The threads that are the longest and most active are usually not even trading related although many start out that way. They usually are the most entertaining ones and are fun to read, insults and all. Most of you freely admit that ET is a good distraction from the daily stress and anxiety that trading can produce. Nobody takes much here seriously. I mean come on, you have 15 year olds on here masquerading as hedge fund managers. You have 75 year old retirees acting like they are a 25 year old player at some prop firm. In a way, Surf is right, it's all theatre.
I think when Baron started ET he truly meant for it to be a serious site for hardcore traders. Instead, this is what he got, the most entertaining site on the web for people who also happen to like trading. Truth of the matter is, had he got what he probably intended for this site to be, I don't think he would have made a penny on it. Instead this site has made him a millionaire. And it's all the colorful characters here that have contributed to that.
I have met a lot of people on ET in real life. Surf of course and his wife. But also people like Nitro, Rearden Metal, Baron and many others who no longer post here. I can tell you that the one thing all these people have in common is that their online personalities don't even remotely resemble who they are in real life. What you are attacking is not them, but rather their online alter ego. Which is fine I guess, you just have to understand that that personality you are attacking does not actually exist in real life. It's simply a figment of someone's imagination. Once you get your head around that, you will realize how pointless it is to spend hours upon hours trying to one up someone or attack them or earn some kind of moral victory.
So if you derive some kind of meaning from attacking an alias known as Marketsurfer who does not exist in the real world, by all means, keep attacking it. All you are doing is contributing to the theatre that is ET and it's giving Baron his website hits. Of course he is laughing all the way to the bank.
