Supreme Court checking all the Christian boxes..

True but someone choosing to go to a religious school has little fear of being ostracized. No one is being forced to a specific school. If they feel the school is too rigid in forcing the religion they would leave or not have chosen it.

Maine opened the door and now every state is going to have to deal with this bullshit. Not sure why taxpayer money should ever go to private schools. Maine tried to deal with a situation where there was NO public school option and tried to rectify it but muddled it.

But mark my words... the GOP and Dems with their limited capcity to read case law will go to the media and run with this haha.

my understanding is this road to hell was paved with good intentions. The state gov. in their infinite wisdom decided it was more cost effective to give monies to small private schools to cover the rural regions rather than build public schools and have transportation. This is where your "just don't go to religious school if you don't want" idea falls apart. If you got some Hindu couple in the middle of rural Maine and can only be serviced by Christian school nearby, then they're shit out of luck.

Obviously it gets worse, religious schools can choose to indoctrinate on "creationism", the evils of "communism" and virtues of the GQP, etc...

gay dude here elaborates:

Alito continues to give women more choice

Supreme Court temporarily allows access to abortion pill

Justice Samuel Alito halted the lower court rulings that seek to limit access to mifepristone Friday, which in turn freezes the litigation being pursued by anti-abortion groups and maintains availability.

The conservative justice asked for challenges to the lower court ruling to be filed by Tuesday at noon.

Supreme Court says abortion pill mifepristone will remain broadly available during legal battle

  • The Supreme Court has ordered that mifepristone remain broadly available as litigation plays out in a lower court.
  • The case will now be heard in the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. The appeals court has scheduled oral arguments for Wednesday, May 17 at 1 pm CT.
  • The national legal battle over mifepristone began with a lawsuit filed by a coalition of doctors who oppose abortion, the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine.
  • Mifepristone, used in combination with another drug, is the most common method to terminate a pregnancy in the U.S., accounting for about half of all abortions.
