Suppose you know you are an idiot, what profession should you choose?

Quote from TraDaToR:

In my free time, I would become an astronaut, a fat trader, a beer baron in the prohibition, a mayor, a food critic, a start-up owner...

As long as it was an INTERNET company (business plan yet to be decided)

I was going to say that a good job for an idiot would be to check the spelling and grammar of posts on sites like ET, but the field is already too crowded. There's an oversupply of idiots in the field. It would be too hard to move up.

Any options that have been proposed so far are ok, but this one I have to object. At least you should have some sort of respect toward those who bet with their life to indirectly save yours.

I don't think your proposal is suitable for the OP, but the cop is surely good for him. :D

Rapper. And don't forget, when you wear the baseball cap sideways it automatically takes 10 IQ points off your score.

Quote from lolatency:

We all complain that stupid people don't realize they are stupid. Well, suppose there is a man who is stupid and he wakes up one morning and realizes he is stupid. He's been faking competence with random success [i.e., he fools other stupid people some of the time, fails to fool other smart people some of the time.]

Furthermore, suppose that this stupid man is not exceptional in any way; however, he is not physically deformed or handicapped in any way.

What job should this man take in order to become reasonably wealthy? Or is it even possible? Is being stupid or unexceptional so damning that the man, without outside assistance, is generally a victim of his environment?

(There's a tie in to trading, since traders often don't really realize they are stupid until after the market gives them some kind of feedback.)

Trader.... of marijuana. Lots of dumb people do that, I did in the sixties. They make a lot more than anybody would ever guess by looking at them... lots of dumb looking people actually have fat bank accounts.. under their beds..

I did car repoing too.. you have to really be dumb for that one but it's fun as can be. Basically you steal cars, and basically, that's a fun thing to do really... the hours suck, usually you have to work from about 1am to 3am and you are off for 22 hours or so... tough life, some [dumb] body has to do it though...

Looking on the bright side, there are lots of jobs that are available just because smart people won't take them.

Far from being a useless thread, I think this is fascinating ('cause I'm an idiot too). The world is full of idiots/ assholes. Absolutely nothing wrong with this. I'll admit that I'm an idiot and a bit of an asshole BUT I'm not a hypocrite, swindler, self-glorifying meglomaniac asshole (many are well paid for this as has been already mentioned). If you know your own human failings and see the world as a delusional hoax then maybe you're not such an idiot after all. I love music and art and animals too, this is where solace and beauty lie. The rich world with all its clever assholes is essentially corrupt. Most of the rest of the poor in the world suffer because of this. And we're fucking the climate up by just being normal human assholes. Trading is a great way for an idiot to make a living and have lots of time for nice things (like walking and playing the guitar), just scalp off key levels or areas of S/R. Make a few bucks a day doing this every morning then turn the fucking machines off and get out into the sun (or rain).

Quote from MAESTRO:

Confucius said once: "The one who thinks he is an idiot is not an idiot at all!"

Did he mention anything about people who sit around in their soiled underwear thinking of stupid threads to start on ET? Just wondering.

play guitar for rich women,.then marry one. get a prenup like countess marie douglass-david.
no pre nup is air tight. you can always come back for more. it gives meaning to the nickname the comeback kid.

Speaking of getting a job in politics and work.

This may be precisely the point of the large amount of bailout money. No one wants to do the work required to straighten out this mess. Throw money at it.

The party that was not in charge sure didn't have to do too much, just collect a paycheck and blame it on Bush. Now the winds have changed which require "real work" and no one is up to the task.
