Stupid CPU hogging websites....

That's odd. I find that ET is probably the most light weight websites that I frequent. If you are using Win7, try disabling active scripting. It has worked wonders for me. I'm sure that it can be disabled in Win10 but you would have to Google that procedure.

Internet Options>Security Tab>Custom Level>Active Scripting>Disable

You can add sites that you trust to run Java without bogging you down

Forgot to tell that I disabled active scripting too. Is indeed faster and safer.

Is there a list of websites that just slow your computer to a crawl ?
I am using the latest and greatest version of Chrome 64 bit with a 4 core Intel processor and continue to be amazed at the slow-nest of my system.
Here is my list of bad CPU sites:
www.marketwatch.com
www.cmegroup.com
www.elitetrader.com

Yes, our own venerable site is a CPU hog...probably due to shitty javascript created by outsourced Indian programmers....natch.

I use the the process manager of Glary Utilities to track the CPU consumption over time. It is so much superior to Windows Task Manager.

Any comments and suggestions greatly appreciated !

More likely your plugins are causing the issues. I'm using a Chrome based Opera on a 2-core ultrabook and the site barely uses CPU.

EDIT: Tried it without uBlock Origin and you're right, it's a CPU hog. Most of the websites are barely usable without some kind of a content/scripting blocker.

Firefox Quantum is nothing like the old Firefox. Lightning fast and does not slow down simply by keeping it open all day.

Try Opera, Chome based but with a much better interface. Moved away from Firefox recently and never looked back.

One tick Range charts seem to really affect my CPU. But I do not have that powerful of a computer. I returned my new 12 stick Windows 10 machine and fixed my old one.

I noticed chrome with all of those tabs I have... loads slowly.

When I was demoing NT7 with a lot of charts and custom indicators/automation after a while it would slow down.

I do not know what the best trading computer is? But I want one of those 32" screens! (not curved)

I should prolly call "Century Link" someday and upgrade my speed.

I use Firefox on a two computers, both have i5 and Windows 10 and this site does not contribute much to cpu usage on either.

The problem is browsers ruining each website as it's own background process. Opera was the last holdout (ok...that autocorrectrd to "Hodar", and I like that better) on this front, but sadly it swallowed the Kool-ade too. If anyone knows a browser that runs as a single process, let me know!

Zero reasons why your CPU would be spiking here.
