Hmm, let me see if I can propose a solution that makes sense for you. How about if we propose to Sadamn that the sanctions will be lifted from the country and inspection will begin immediately without restrictions if, he and his regime will agree to step down from power in the country. Since he has the country and his peoples well being as his priority, he should see this as his personal gesture to WORLD PEACE.
As an orderly transition of power, the U.N. will then arrange to stage and supervise the election of the new administration within nine months. That would establish a world monitored election and provide a way of dropping all our interests in going to war while saving face on all sides.
If peace is Sadamn's goal, that should provide a way for him to ease out with face, some pride and a victory. It would allow the U.N. to claim victory and say that peace has prevailed. And America could then easily back down the "Dogs of War" and see where they do have options.
That way everyone clearly has a win and a loss in the bigger picture. Totally even here. What do you think of this as a start to developing ways to reign in the bad boys of the world?
