by the way, an awfull lot of democrats in the house and senate voted in favor of Bush. You can let your guard down now, the majority of both parties are now willing to see an attack take place.

You just proved my point. This opposition isn't about Iraq, it is just about being a good liberal.
I see, the Congress, Senate and American public have been duped by Bush. How can this be? According to your posts, he's completely deficient so as to make this impossible.Originally posted by vvv
of course the point is about iraq. we cannot afford a pointless war as we have much more pressing problems at home, nor is there indeed any reason to start such a war.
But you don't call anyone names, right?to a large extent ideology is being instrumentalized like games played by children in kindergarten, mere name calling for the sake of hoping to undermine credibility through compartmentalizing.
Right, we need to blow out the entire legislature then.as for congress, oh well, congress has always approved every dumb war this country has engaged in, there was never any reason to suspect that they wouldn't do so this time.
Then it must be Bush's skill at duping the entire free world. Amazing, isn't it?not, of course, that that should mislead anyone into thinking that there is any reason for this war, which of course there isn't, as the rest of the world sees very clearly, leaving us to pay the bill with money we do not have.

LBJ ran Vietnam by committee and that and his general battle plan methodology doomed any chance of success. BTW, the peace demonstrations in this country contributed to a large percentage of US combat casualties.

actually i thought i'd made my point pretty clearly:
as far as the poor go, where we have 20 % of our children living in poverty, there are 20 countries way ahead of us, with a much smaller percentage of their children living in poverty.
as far as benefits go, compared to the most highly developed countries in the world, we are one of the very few that doesn't have medical and pension coverage for all it's citizens.
and, having lived in quite some countries and travelled in many more, indeed i not only believe but have experienced first hand that there are quite a few middle classes abroad living a better life than we have in the us, with all the freedoms, a much superior infrastructure, much less rampant crime and drugs, better and wider education, income that has been rising while work time has been decreasing.
The three key points. I too have traveled extensively. And I differ with your points on such a rudimentary basis it truly isn't funny. I would ask this. Rather than continually quote errored polls, cite for me the countries. In doing so make sure that the country total includes it's minority's ratios as the survey that you quote make that allowance. You see when you lump in all the minority statistics from America, you are unfairly weighing the reviews.
You also can't fairly say that a country provides total health care on one hand and then say but the populace has no ability to choose where that heath care is given. Or, more importantly, that the economic standards are not on par with Americans.
Further, having been there in many instances, I am still waiting for you to address which countries abroad have a superior middle class. Low unemployment figures, an open an unimpeded society that can vent without fear, travel as they desire and enjoy the best of the creature comforts. One that offers such a vast possibilities and potentials of incomes and experiences. One whose peoples and cultures that openly welcome trade, dialog and inspiration.
The excuse that there are individual countries with superior middle classes also concerns me if they do not have a voice or view of Sadam that does not have them also looking to have him removed. This war is not in stone by any means. There are those who say, "Leave him be as he will not remain forever and for NOW he is not hurting me."
My question then would be, for you to be inflamed, does he have to hurt you personally or will a few thousand of his own people do? If so, then you must honestly stay constant and condemn what we have done in Kosovo. If you can, then I can live with your disagreement as you will be -- consistent!![]()

good god, this is so incredible it's almost funny.
success in propping up the evil government in south vietnam?
peace movement contributing to a large percentage of us combat casualties, as opposed to it playing an important role in ending the most imbecilic war happily nodded off by congress this country has ever engaged in, at incredible cost to an entire generation?
