In the 2nd of April 2002 Energy Minister Assistant of Russia Valentin Shelepov in Saint-Petersburg meeting with journalists said that the current stocks of oil that Russian oil companies have in reality will be spend in 6-18 years. Earlier the evaluation of this quantity by mass media was for 50-100 years.


If this is true than it could explain a lot of things... the richest region in the world as regards oil is by far the middle east and Irak is the second oil rich country after Saudia Arabia...

Many scientists believe that by 2020 there will be great oil concerns and that a 160$ a barril won't be impossible...

1/ Ok, Saudia arabia is certainly not a democracy and may be it is not the most appropriate place for you, but I am sure that even if you are jew you can go there and if I say that it is because a friend of my father who is jew often goes there for business....

That is the propaganda, here is the reality:

The U.S. supported the Mujahdeen, a completely different group of fighters that predates the Taliban and were rivals after the russians left.

The U.S. never gave money to the Taliban, the Taliban has always been anti-western.

The Mujahdeen later morphed into the "Northern Alliance", and the northern alliance was instrumental in the retaking of Kabul and other cities. In fact the Northern Alliance did almost all of the ground fighting against the Taliban.

That is correct. A jew can go to Saudi Arabia. As long as they have not had their passport stamped in Israel. It isn't just jews. It is anyone. My closest friend here is Syrian. But he can not go to Israel because if he does, he wouldn't be able to get back into Syria. It isn't about religion. How can anyone know what your religion is unless you tell them?

Max....I have NOTHING to prove to you! Your challenges are LAUGHABLE! But for the record, my wife is extremely active in American-Israeli relations, so going to Israel for me and my family is quite routine. . That is more than I should be telling you. I am sure it will bring forth a million questions, but don't bother, 'cause there will be NO answers. This is my private life.

And as far as "most of the countries in Europe"...big deal. I went there on my honeymoon with my first wife and drove all over. Europe is small. Not a big feat to cover most of it. Did not get to Eastern Europe then. The wall was still up.

Happy hunting to Max, and Traderfut, keep up the good peace efforts. Maybe you can get Max to meet you half way on something. But I doubt it. He is not a peaceful guy.

Very true no argument here. There are other pipelines from Caspian some even end up connecting through corridor 8 (Bosnia) to feed the western Europe. but the ones mentioned in your post are all Eastern block controlled, mainly Russia.
We needed are own and thus UNOCAL to get it down to the south. And of course Pakistan is involved. (Our close friends for now).

Caspian Sea Kuwait argument and oil history, some is listed on the previous post. The money and oil trail leads to were we are now. And that is not only US but UK Russia Middle east etc.

..One of the easiest ways to change things around would be to start aiding in the development and purchasing of more Russian and South American oil. Develop stronger competition to the Saudi cartels. It would take different production assistance and commitments for those regions, but I believe it could prove worth the gamble in the long run. :) ...

Yes good step. We should even go further. Devote $$$ and resources to better and cleaner energy resources. I bet if we devote even a small portion of our tax $$$ spent on oil interests and a huge war machine (we are already as large as the next 20 nations on conventional weapons, many multiples than in nuclear weapons, and I'm not even touching the rest of technological superiority), we could have some nice alternatives.

But that maybe good discussion for another thread. :)

What is laughable is your explanation of your "outlaw" post;

What is laughable is your explanation of combat experience, conveniently situated in some secret and obscure location that would preclude any relative interrogatory and hence ability to disprove;

What is laughable is vvv blasting in here and defending you 20 times with your same writing style and cleverly claiming you were in Vietnam, which is impossible because your far fetched "secret spy mission" story would be hard to forget;

What is laughable is your non-responsive behavior, just like now, every step of the way towards disbelief;

What is laughable is you make a tearful farewell speech, complete with the next post from vvv begging you to stay and you return a few days later and continue as if nothing happened.

A more accurate statement for you would be: "I have nothing to prove it to you."

Just so long as it isn't the government that's responsible for the development. You also can't let the government dictate the rationale for the development either. Otherwise we'll all be driving (and trying to pay for) $250,000 electric hybrid vehicles that can withstand impacts with small tanks that look like crap. :)
 
embargoes on essential commodities with global markets don't work. Oil flows out of the middle east not because they are the only ones with oil, but because they have the cheapest oil. Embargoes and other interventions will only drive up the cost of oil to the consumer, it will not do anything to stop oil leaving the middle east. Therefore we cannot simply say we aren't going to get our oil from Iraq, it just isn't practical. If we don't buy it, somebody else will, or at the very least we would make the smugglers rich. Black market Iraqi oil could be as profitable as the drug trade. Also we know that embargoes do nothing to hurt dicatators, they only hurt the common people.

Between Israel, Islamic Fundamentalism, Dictators, and the absolute need for oil, we are going to be involved in the middle east for decades to come.
