What all the righteous "Pay Your Bills!", "Deadbeat!" crowd fail to understand about the consumer debt game is one thing:

IT'S JUST BUSINESS!

Well at least for those who are actually approaching it that way. Those who just run up bills they can't pay with no plan are just idiots.

But shit, in this day and age, running up bills like a moron and then crying for a bailout from Obama seems like a better choice than straining yourself to pay them off.

That's exactly how I see his posts too... call me a cynic but somehow a credit card cheat who trades a sub 1k account and claims to make a living off of it doesn't have a lot of credibility with me. But I'm sure some of the deadbeats here would disagree

He sure does talk-up a storm though, doesn't he?

He has everything figured-out ... is super-smart, ultra-manipulative and a master at understanding the strengths and weaknesses of every social or business interaction and exploiting it ... to his betterment.

So that's why he lives in a studio flat with a TV in his kitchen that he struggles to pay the rent on every month and if he misses just one or two trades (or if they don't go his way, go figure) he won't be able to make his rent for the month.

That's why the stress-levels are ultra-high for him and anyone who is remotely sane would not have put themself into this situation in the first place!

So, do you want to know how I really feel? :eek:

Check out your moral belief system - you'll find it's entirely self-serving and has nothing to do with universal right and wrong.

How about a guy who has hungry kids to feed right now and can only do it by ripping off the system? His moral duty is to his kids, not to some abstract social entity.

Some people can't afford to consider the future; they must deal with the exigencies of the present.

Hardly mea culpa - my post is a generalization and applies only to spanish89 if the particulars of his situation are covered by that generalization.

Ultimately, those who commit immoral or even criminal acts out of necessity are punished for pragmatic reasons by people who believe they belong to a fantasy entity called 'society' ( which is really, among other things, a gang of people who have no need to commit desperate acts ), not for reasons that arise from any unchallengable moral rationale. Those who must commit desperate acts to survive are marginalized and are considered non-social.

If we're going to pretend there is an essential morality then surely the existence of poverty is immoral and the responsibility of those who have the wherewithall but not the will to ameliorate it.
