I just updaded my etrade account to level 1 option trading and If I had upgraded on friday and put 2K into RFYGD I would have made 8K...in PURE PROFIT

Sorry guy's if this sounds a silly question, But if I buy 1000 shares of a $50.00 stock for ever tick it moves I am set to make or loss $10.00 a tick and does the same apply to a $100.00 stock is this correct?.I just want to make sure

depends how you define a tick

could be a dollar or one cent depending on the increment

The easiest way to figure it out is just to take the number of shares you bought and multiply it by the change in price.

i.e. you bought 1000 shares and the stock moved .01.

1000 x .01 = $10

So every .01 'tick' is $10

Don't forget to add in the commissions you're paying to play the stock. This is what most noobs forget about. A $25 commission to buy AND sell a stock means you need the stock to 'tick' up 2.5 ticks just to break even.
