Statins

The relation of total cholesterol and especially LDL with coronary disease is well established in the Framingham study. This is one of the most serious and well conducted cohort studies in the history of medicine.

All fine and dandy unless the goal is to live longer- in which case the Framingham Study established that people with the highest cholesterol lived the longest. An inconvenient truth.

How about showing where IN THE FRAMINGHAM study this is written and not just some random newspaper article that just says that? People have a tendency to distort things when reading and interpreting it in order to fit whatever they want to believe and that is the sadest truth of all. However, what the Framinghan study DOES have is table after table showing a clear and progressive relationship between high LDL cholesterol and Cardiovascular Disease.

I made an accidental discovery yesterday, shopping in the Indian store. Amla, what is an Indian gooseberry is the best fruit to lower cholesterol levels, if somebody wants to do it in a natural way. Its effects are comparable to statin's. It is available in juice (you have to drink very little and it is very sour) or powder form.

And if you don't care about cholesterol (as you shouldn't really) it still lowers Tryg levels too. Oh, have I mentioned blood glucose?

There's a lot of BS on the web about everything. Everyone's an expert. Go see a specialist, maybe 2, get a second opinion. Then it's best to follow your doctors advice.

Sure, but you didn't watch the first video, did you? Go watch it first, then you can attack the scientific study in it.

And what specialist should we go to see? The one who gets a free Hawaiian vacation after each 10 statin prescription?

1. I promptly noted those situations.
2. So I should take a drug on a maybe that has a few pretty bad side effects and weakens my heart by taking CoQ-10 away?
3. I haven't addressed the unwanted side effects of statins, so this might be a good place for it:

The most common statin side effects include:
  • Headache.
  • Difficulty sleeping.
  • Flushing of the skin.
  • Muscle aches, tenderness, or weakness (myalgia)
  • Drowsiness.
  • Dizziness.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Abdominal cramping or pain.
I take a statin but i don't have any side effects.
