Standing Ovation for Boehner on the floor

Jem, young man, in the world of politics you are naivete personified.

The House passed funding bills that were attached to provisions onerous to the Democrats. Of course those bills all died. Then they tried opening, i.e., funding, the government, a piece at a time. -- I like this piece, so I'll fund it. I don't like that piece, but it's causing me a political problem, so I'll fund it enough so I can say I did. I don't like that piece, and so far it isn't a political problem for me , so I won't agree to fund it at all. Etc., Etc., Etc.

No astute politician in the opposition party would go along with that! And of course they didn't!

you claim not be be a democrat..
now you are pretending to be some sage.
remember first you said they could not not fund..
now your are changing your argument to some new... astute politician standard.

yeah... like the dems have not done it either in the past.
its what happens when you have checks and balances.

if our pols were not bought off --- these funding battles would be happening like they did in the past.

I remember when the leftist media assholes an some dem polticians were calling republicans and reagan these very same names because of star wars funding ..

I sat in the House gallery watching that historic signing.
(laughing to myself as the dems I was working with were all upset.)

It was that spending which caused the Russian generals to admit they could not keep russia even with the US. Giving Gorbachev the opportunity for glasnost.

you leftists liars have been on the wrong side of freedom for decades.

Quote from Ricter:

That's just an extortionist saying, "I told you I would hit you if you didn't do X, and you didn't do X, so it's your fault you got hit."

With that (I didn't read the rest) I don't disagree, but the tea party picked the wrong fight and the wrong stakes.

Pay attention, Washington establishment Republicans. Cutting deals with Harry Reid and Barack Obama will not curry you favor with voters. Americans are not happy with your shutdown “deal” to fund Obamacare and raise the debt ceiling.

from Reuters:

Most Americans found little to cheer in the congressional deal to reopen the government and avoid a national default, and Republicans suffered the biggest political damage in the crisis, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Friday.

Nearly one-third of Americans - 32 percent - were dissatisfied with the agreement to end the fiscal impasse and 40 percent were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. Only 28 percent were satisfied with the outcome.

IMO - you are reading too far into this poll. The majority of those in the group of 32% who were dissatisfied with the agreement to end the fiscal impasse are upset because they merely kicked the can down the road to February and did not solve the problem. Probably only 10% to 15% of the people in the U.S. support the Republican House in shutting down the country recently based on the polls that I have seen.

Keep in mind that Congress has an approval rating that is below 14%.
