Standing Ovation for Boehner on the floor

Good call AAAinthebeltway

I honestly didnt think these idiots would be proud of themselves, i thought AAA was exxaggerating when he said there would be backslapping and high fiving, this is sickening.

At the last GOP conference meeting of the two-week government shutdown, no lawmakers went to the microphones to give their take.

Instead, after Speaker John Boehner told Republicans they had “fought the good fight,” they all rose up to offer a standing ovation. “It was one of the easiest meetings we’ve ever had,” says Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina.

“I think he has strengthened his position in leadership,” Representative John Fleming says about Boehner. “He hung in there with us. He’s been reluctant to go to these fights and now that we have stood up and fought for our values and he’s been there with us, leading, I think his stock has risen tremendously. He has great security as our leader and our speaker.”

The message from Boehner and majority leader Eric Cantor was unity, with warnings not to point fingers of blame.

“Everyone in this room ran on the Republican ticket,” Cantor told colleagues.

“We all agree Obamacare is an abomination. We all agree taxes are too high. We all agree spending is too high. We all agree Washington is getting in the way of job growth. We all agree we have a real debt crisis that will cripple future generations. We all agree on these fundamental conservative principles. . . . We must not confuse tactics with principles. The differences between us are dwarfed by the differences we have with the Democratic party, and we can do more for the American people united,” he told them.

Walking out of the meeting to the throng of reporters, the conservatives kept to that script, but the moderates drew their knives out for the Right.

Representative Peter King of New York urged more Republican officials to speak up about Senator Ted Cruz and “condemn him for what he did.”

Representative Aaron Schock of Illinois said the lesson of the episode was that Boehner should cut out the far-right flank and work with centrist Democrats.

Most of the top conservatives who pushed the House GOP into an Obamacare fight weren’t very introspective, offering positive words about the fight and hope for victories to come.

One conservative, however, did say he had learned a valuable lesson.

“Don’t bite off more than you can chew,” said Representative Dana Rohrabacher of California.

All of those MoFo's need to be taxed to no end and subject to Obam. . . .

Eh, what difference does it make? They are not nearly as bad as the left wing losers here would make, but nobody in Congress is nearly as consistent as any of us, let alone as "right wing" or (heaven forbid) "libertarian".

Just think of the men and women who sacrificed their very lives and treasure so we could surrender their hard won freedoms for government handouts. Got one thing to say to many of you:

FUCK YOU! They DIED for freedom, and you cannot wait to enslave more!

So much for expecting republicans to do the right thing, now or ever. Can we just skip the bullshit coming next January, and get to them sucking the Kings cock on national TV.

I hate to say this because it will give the libs pleasure, but what's the point in voting if my peeps are going to side with my opponents?

He got a standing ovation because he accomplished his mission.

The mission being to put on a faint pretense that he was fighting for conservatives, but making sure that conservatives got absolutely nothing out of the shutdown and everyone could then call the conservatives a bunch of idiots, nuts, etc. That is exactly what Boehner and crew wanted to do.

I haven't voted for a republican since 08 and i never will again.
If you are a moderate republican on here, i don't want to berate you. I would just like to ask what it is you want to accomplish with John Boehner and Mccain et al being in control. What are you expecting to achieve?

I voted for two in 2010 and one Romney last year. From now on it's anyone but a (R) or a (D) for me.

Speaking of primaries above. I saw a comment the other day about how the low voter participation rate in primaries is helping the incumbents. Not good.

In the 2012 election, a state legislator that seemed very conservative ran for the house in my district. This person had also previously been a missionary and visited regularly a church i was going to back then. Iow, a candidate that would be right up my alley.

So i watched this person's campaign, and it became obvious that it had been turned over lock, stock and barrel to the wash dc republican political consultants complete with all the buzzwords, etc. I knew right then that this person, if elected, would simply turn over their votes to john boehner to cast, and so i didn't even vote for this republican candidate. Well, the candidate won, and they are now a reliable vote for the boehner crew, just like i thought.

Unfortunately, when the next election comes around, Rush Limbaugh and all the rest of the radio guys will be telling us to back these people, no matter what they say now.

It's always the same and it never ends.
