I was wondering if anyone had a method for getting their EQ/IQ in order before the trading day starts. I got a late start today and I was all over the place... mentally felt like crap after I threw up my hands in the morning.
snip . . .
I think the answer is probably to simply avoid trading the AM if I sit down at the computer after 9:30 (I'm too rushed and feel like I have to get in rather than let the market show me when to get in) and wait until the afternoon so I can build my carryover channels...gaussians etc. for the post noon BO.
Snip . . .
Secondly, if you are in the wrong frame of mind...i.e. not calm and relaxed... how do you PUT yourself in the correct mindframe?

(this post has not been proofread).

I find I have to get caught up on the annotating for the day first and avoid jumping right in. You feel you might be missing something, so just assume you will and take the time to get up to speed. Also jumping out to higher time frames helps to slow things down and get a perspective. Just a quick glance at the daily, 60 min, 30 min and 15 min. By the time you get to the 5 minute there is no sense of needing to rush things. Laying off the expresso helps too :D

Morning was shifty for me. My MADA was wrong all morning so I did what any rational thinking crazy person would do, I took a nap :D. Everything was good, then I awoke to mayhem on the charts.

I should do that more often.

guava,

Looks like you have those pennants down now. You are even picking off SYM pennants inside laterals. . . nice !!:D

Nap good guava!

I think that pennants should be drawn through bars' ends in order to see their boundaries.

oh here is the question: How do you know when your own mental state is relaxed vs. hyper and prone to being trigger happy? By what method do you objectively ascertain this EQ aspect?

If I find myself asking what is going on?! I will force myself out. so far, it's been very rewarding. it's like a reversal signal to me :)

looking back, it's pathetic to hold a position I don't even understand.

Perhaps cnms2, but it does not seem to be a requirement Spyder holds himself to.

As I've been reviewing the journal, I've come up with some questions, so I guess I'll ask them one by one.

Please have a look at the attached. Let's say we're just trying to trade the rules for the forest / tree method. In this case, I assume (I hope I'm not wrong) that when we identify an FTT, we want to reverse our position.

There are times that a channel is established, and tapes will whip back and forth in the center of the channel (or ride along the RTL) without ever reaching the LTL (necessary and sufficient condition for FTT). In this case, we can be "fooled" repeatedly in taking the reverse trade and churn our account.

When trading the limb-level, if we try to trade the legs, these kinds of legs can also lead to churn, particularly for channels that are very skinny.
