Thank you very much for your great journal. I am a WL-user too and I like your combination of fundamental data and technical analysis. I have not finished reading your journal and your links to the other stuff. Is your second posting still up to date or have you choosen some improvements which I have not seen yet?
Is it possible to use the yahoo- or msn-scanner instead of stocktables.com?

Thank you for your kind words with respect to the journal. I'm glad you find the information here useful.

As you progress through the Journal, you'll notice a few changes to the methodology compared to the second post. The changes allow for earlier entry into a stock, and also save time during the culling process. If you use Wealth-Lab Developer (or Wealth-lab Pro) I have uploaded several .ws files for use with WLD. Others have uploaded their criteria for using the MSN Stock Screener to obtain a list of Hershey Stocks. IBD.com and Stocktables.com both use RS and EPS rank which makes the culling process easier. However, any method of obtaining high quality stocks which cycle should also work for you.

Hope that helps.

What is a "streaker" ?

Sorry for not being clearer. By streaker, I mean a stock with volume moving up very fast. So fast that if I set alert at the Lower Band volume, I miss the entry.

I want to catch move before it passes the volume level for entry.

I watch it as it approaches Lower band volume level.

Hello kriggins and welcome to the journal. I appreciate you posting the above 'work around' for Quotetracker. Thanks again for sharing your efforts.

SpyderTrader,

Thank you for the welcome. I have been studying this journal for a month or two and started real-time trading with it a couple weeks ago. I have been very happy with my results so far and look forward to the continuing evolution of the system.

For people who like to muck about with perl, I am developing a perl script that will eventually take a list of stocks and cull the list for the volume and float characteristics we are looking for, determine if they satisfy the characteristics defined for 20% gains, calculate dryup values and finally output a list of stocks in DryUP and several values associated with entry characteristics I have read about on this journal.

That is the ambition. Currently it takes a culled list of stocks and calculates whether they are in dry up and prints out the output I referenced above.

If anybody is interested in the code, let me know and I will post it to the journal after I have cleaned it up a bit.

Good to see you have experienced success trading these methods, and I appreciate you sharing your experiences with everyone else who reads the posts here. Keep up the great work.

Thanks also for offering to post the results of your efforts. I have no doubt many will find the code useful.

2005-09-12, Monday - Update

SNHY from our list of Dry Up Stocks reached FRV levels by EOD. Interestingly, SNHY also reached Peak Volume levels by EOD.

Again, Congrats to those of you who traded SNHY today. SNHY finished up +$2.57 since signal for a gain of 12.5% on the day.

I continue to hold 1000 shares of IRIS from the $18.02 price point and plan to do so at least until Tuesday morning.

As you might guess, I would find the code useful since I maintain several extensive lists of trading stocks. Look forward to your posting it & thanks in advance for doing so.

NOTE: My lists are available upon request with the caveat that they are NOT recommendations and subject to change which I cannot promise to update real-time. .

Everyone should feel free to post their experiences, watch lists, methods, or anything else which might assist the collaborative iterative refinement process. My thanks to those that have contributed in the past, and I look forward to those who plan to contribute in the future.

FYI - Tommorrow's edition of IBD will have this screen which makes a good watchlist -- NOTE that DPTR is listed.

To create the following lists of stocks, I used 90 RS and 80 EPS. Using 90 RS and 90 EPS resulted in an initial stocktables.com sort of too few equities.
