You haven't missed anything. The decision to hold beyond the second day involves an anticipation of the equity repeating similar circumstances from the past. When these events do not repeat to the upside, I rely on my experience to determine my course of action. With IRIS, I saw a falling MACD Histogram in combination with a decreasing (and divergent to the downside) Stochastic Indicator. Also, price had just bounced off a recent low. In the past, this set of circumstances preceded a significant drop in price. As a result, I sold my shares knowing if I misinterpreted the signals, I had banked my profits rather than let them slip away as I had done before (JMDT).

The biggest reason for my use of QCharts stems from the speed at which I can cull the daily lists. By creating a quotesheet with average daily volume, eps and float as data criteria, I can cull the entire stocktables.com initial sort within a few seconds. Manually culling the list using Yahoo data used to take me about an hour. Since I have to do this task daily, I figured $100 USD was a small price to pay for a tool which saved me 20 - 22 hours a month freeing up that time to spend elsewhere.

2005-09-14, Wednesday - Update

This morning, I monitored one list of stocks (5 total equities): Those equities from our daily Hot List and from our Final Universe List finding themselves "In Dry Up."

Dry Up Stocks

CMT DCAI ELOS RADS VDSI

Our system generated two possible trade signals from the list of five Dry Up Stocks when actual volume exceeded calculated "Low Band" Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM.

DCAI ELOS RADS

VDSI did show price improvement ($10.25) at time of signal generation (10:54 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.0341). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell above desired levels (100.00). As a result, I entered into a long position with VDSI receiving a fill price of $10.26 USD on 1000 shares.

CMT did not show price improvement ($6.41) at time of signal generation (111:15 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a negative return (-.0627). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (4.00). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading CMT.

2005-09-14, Wednesday - Update

None of our list of Dry Up Stocks reached FRV levels by EOD.

Once again, we see an FBO with respect to VDSI. Watching the same pattern develop as we witnessed with CKCM (Negative MCD histogram with falling price and falling [and divergent] Stochastics) the day before, I tossed in the towel early - opting not to wait for the 2% stop loss to kick in. I sold all shares (1000) of VDSI at the 10.13 price point. This intraday trade yielded a gross loss of -$130 USD or a loss of 1.2% on 1000 shares.

Price came up off the low of the previous candle while MACD Histogram and Stochastics did there thing. See Attached.

To create the following lists of stocks, I used 90 RS and 80 EPS. Using 90 RS and 90 EPS resulted in an initial stocktables.com sort of too few equities.
