2005-06-21, Tuesday - Update

This morning, I monitored one list of stocks (6 total equities): Those equities from our daily Hot List and from our Final Universe List finding themselves "In Dry Up."

Dry Up Stocks

DCAI EZPW JUPM MFLX NFLX TASR

Our system generated one possible trade signals from the list of six Dry Up Stocks when actual volume exceeded calculated "Low Band" Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM.

Dry Up Stocks NOT Triggering Signal

DCAI EZPW JUPM MFLX NFLX

TASR did show price improvement at time of signal generation (11:24 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.0034). However, The Stochastic Indicator fell outside desired levels (48.7436).

As a result, I took no action with respect to TASR.

Actual Volume for TASR exceeded FRV levels by EOD. Although we did see price improvement, neither MACD nor The Stochastic Indictor fell within desired parameters. As a result, I took no action with respect to TASR.

DCAI did show price improvement at time of signal generation (10:03 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.1338). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell well above desired levels (97.7778).

As a result I entered into a long position with 1600 shares of DCAI receiving a fill price of $21.38 USD. The particulars for DCAI are as follows:

NFLX also showed price improvement ($16.66) at time of signal generation (10:49 AM). The MACD Histogram showed a negative return (-.1637), and The Stochastic Indicator failed to achieve desired levels (50.5112). As a result, I took no action with respect to NFLX.

MFLX showed price ($18.04) improvement as well at time of signal generation (11:15 AM). In addition, MACD returned a positive result(+.0550). However The Stochastic Indicator (75.5102) fell outside desired parameters. As a result, I took no action with respect to MFLX.

In my opinion the %D of the stochastic was about 73 %. Because it was not above 75 I took no action.
Made I a mistake - I use e-signal...
But I did buy ist because frv at 11:18:34 AM and the parameters were in desired territory.

Often, variances exist between different data source providers. We have seen this in the past many times. Good to hear you were able to enter into a position once DCAI exceeded FRV levels.

Since I began to use Qcharts, I use the following settings for Stochastics (14,1,3) - %K Length: 14 Smoothing: 1 - %D Smoothing: 3. I have been using the %K line as my confirming indicator, and do not concern myself as to the location of the %D with respect to confirming volume signals. However, you bring up an interesting point. Perhaps a correlation exists between %D and FBO. I'll need to research it further.

Now that actual volume for DCAI has exceeded FRV, we look for Peak Volume (551,662 shares) as a possible signal to initiate an exit.

Although I no longer regularly use Quotetracker, I believe I may have mistyped back then. To make sure, here are my settings for Quotetracker:

%K - 14
%K Slow - 1
%D - 3

Since I began to use Qcharts, I use the following settings for Stochastics (14,1,3) - %K Length: 14 Smoothing: 1 - %D Smoothing: 3.

The green line should be the %K line. I apologize for any confusion resulting from my previous typo.
