Really? Maybe you are thinking of /ES. SPY can be traded after hours but not the options of either SPY or SPX.

Well you are right, but it does not help.https://www.cboe.com/products/contract-specs-and-trading-hours/extended-trading-hours

Thanks.Spx and Vix options are traded overnight between 2am and 815am ct. IB offers trading between these hours. Some other brokers offer trading during part of this overnight session, such as Fidelity, which offer trading starting at 6am ct.

Can you and I (retail traders and I assume you are also retail) trade options at 3 AM?
This is how they describe the process:

I am with Ameritrade and the first time I saw this, I tried it and I do not think you and I are allowed to trade 3 AM EST.
The only advantage is that I see prices getting updated before the market opens. However, it is fairly illiquid and as I read it - it is meant for institutions to trade during european hours.
I do not understand it fully based on the documents, and if someone is able to trade this before formal market open, please specify which broker so that I could try it out.
Trading hours also different, wider in SPX. Almost 24h
Virtu makes virtually a 24/7 market in SPY - currently only TD offers it. Not sure if any TD affiliates offer it.
Just the underlying now.
On a similar note, any trade ndx? Seems like a good way to trade the nasdaq. Qqq spreads seem wider than ndx... Of course, there is the lot size difference.
