Special counsel is investigating President Trump for obstruction of justice, new report says

I think there is a good chance Trump fires the special counsel, probably soon, maybe even this weekend. Trump himself is tweeting criticism of the investigation. His surrogates have repeatedly floated the idea that he should stop the investigation. I haven't seen any pushback form congressional republicans.

If he does, it'll be fun to watch the left go insane and begin foaming at the mouth (not that they're not already at this point).

“Technically, the president of the United States cannot obstruct justice,” Gingrich said (via Marketwatch). “The President of the United States is the chief executive officer of the United States. If he wants to fire the FBI director, all he has to do is fire him.”

Those words, of course, do not square with perhaps the most famous vote Gingrich ever cast as a member of Congress — a vote in favor of the impeachment of then-President Bill Clinton.

Article III of that bill plainly states:

n his conduct while President of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice, and has to that end engaged personally, and through his subordinates and agents, in a course of conduct or scheme designed to delay, impede, cover up, and conceal the existence of evidence and testimony related to a Federal civil rights action brought against him in a duly instituted judicial proceeding.

This is just the latest flip-flop for Gingrich, who slammed Mueller on Twitter after previously calling him “a superb choice.”

Is this the same Gingrich , the guy who haggled over the terms of his divorce from his first wife while she was in the hospital, recovering from uterine cancer surgery. He had already proposed to his second wife before he was divorced from his first. In the ’90s, the guy who had an affair with a 33-year-old congressional aide — while spearheading the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton — and asked his third wife to marry him before he was divorced from his second, who was also ailing ? . ?

Gingrich , a man I at one time respected, though I profoundly disagreed with him, has lost all integrity. Sad to see it. Once integrity is lost, it is virtually impossible to regain it.
