Speaker of the House is Vacated - What Next?

Yes, and 208 Democrats joined 8 Republicans to vote out McCarthy to start this mess

Quite the fantasy you have there. This is how authoritarians operate. The MAGA crowd is very reminiscent of the brown shirts in Germany in the 1930s.

At this point it is very clear that Jim Jordan is coordinating a campaign to intimidate and abuse any GOP representatives who do not vote for him. The campaign has backfired badly as Jordan loses more votes in each round of voting.

Jim Jordan’s allies tried strong-arming his GOP critics. It backfired.

“The one thing that will never work with me — if you try to pressure me, if you try to threaten me, then I shut off,” GOP Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart said.

this you?

Just another failed Godwin attempt.

Apparently you have no context or understanding of history if you assert that Trump “shamelessly applies Hitler’s methods”.

The only brown-shirts around here terrorizing people are the ANTIFA thugs.

The GOP House circus will continue...

In a reversal from hours ago, Jim Jordan said he would push ahead with another vote on his bid to become House speaker.
Earlier today, the hard-right Republican said he would put aside his candidacy for the moment and support elevating the interim speaker, Representative Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, to temporarily lead the House.

“In a closed-door meeting Thursday, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) told GOP colleagues he might resign as speaker pro tempore if Republicans push him to try to move legislation on the floor without an explicit vote to expand his powers,” NBC News reports.

Said McHenry: “If you guys try to do that, you’ll figure out who the next person on Kevin’s list is.”

“McHenry’s comments underscore the quandary Republicans are in: They can’t really do anything until they choose a new speaker, but they can’t agree on someone who can get the votes to be that new speaker.”
