You're arguing with someone who considers Brazil a capitalist country, and even more, Rio a capitalist state.:)

Rio is BY FAR one of the most socialist states in Brazil. So socialist, that it is a "mini Venezuela". The state has literally declared bankrupcy and is very well known for having the biggest public/centralized institutions relative to other states in the country which not surprisingly provide services that are terrible and the "cariocas"(people from Rio de Janeiro state) are literally fleeing the state to other states, because they can't take that shit anymore(Not that the other states are much better, but compared to Rio, they're heaven).

Given the level of ignorance of someone saying crap like that, it is truly a waste of time to talk to someone like that...:)

Well you will be glad to hear I supported Brazil's economy this weekend by buying a new Fiat Uno Way for our housekeeper to use. The driver's door is not quite closing correctly already and neither is the back hatch but hey, who needs superficial things like build quality when you have a cute dashboard console.

Solidarity my ambiguously gay identifying amigo.

Marcelo Crivella is fixing everything I am sure.

Thanks for that Neo, spot on.

All modern democratic economies are "mixed economies" with a mixture of socialism and capitalism. And that's true even of some of the lesser democratic, such as China. At the root of this bizarre thread is an extreme oversimplification that socialism is bad and capitalism is good. Real life is far more nuanced.

That explains this:
According to the Public Law 117-154 (06/23/2022), the U.S. Tax Code is 6,871 pages. When you include the federal tax regulations and the official tax guidance, the number of pages raises to approximately 75,000. This will take an average reader about 14 weeks to finish.

we'll still receive .50 on the dollar for everything we put in (never mind the 7% CAGR we could expect from the market).
I was surprised to learn that most of us will receive a positive ROI on our Social Security contributions, those at the bottom typically receiving a higher ROI. Exceptions would include those that contribute but die without dependents before than can draw enough benefits to equal their contributions.
