That's a good point. My kids go to public school and I would guess that if you did a multiple regression on academic performance versus parents education, race, family income....That parent's education would explain at least 75% of the differences in children's performance if not more. Unfortunately this is an uncomfortable area to study for two reasons; the people doing the studying are part of the sample plus you might end up finding a genetic basis for intelligence that would be, shall we say, inconvenient.
I sometimes feel the anti-intellectualism of the MAGA crowd is the modern day equivalent of past peasant revolutions, it's just that the have-nots now lack intellect compared to the elites versus money in the past..
I used to think the same thing about HBS and W, but at the end of the day both schools can claim that one of their alumni was President. Although I understand in Penn's case they're not exactly thrilled.
As much as I despise the decision to enter into two wars and him being led around by the nose by Wolfowitz and Cheney... he realizes and understands the mistakes that he made. My wife is a Prescott (Bush43 cousin) and she spoke to him last year for the first time in probably 20. lol she forgives him so I guess I can as well.

Members of a capitalist society generally have the free choice to change their own political system, and this can include incorporating a little socialism, some socialism or a lot of socialism. Such a freedom is implicit in the capitalist model.
Generally, members of a fully socialist society have no freedom to change the socialist model of their regime. Freedom to change the political structure away from socialism is anti-socialist and has to be an immediate casualty of the introduction of socialism.
Countries in a hurry to become first world powers will probably opt for the China system of being nominally Communist but financially capitalist. So no divisive political ideas are allowed by the people. It ALL has to be funnelled through the one Party machine and decided by the elite at the top.
You're arguing with someone who considers Brazil a capitalist country, and even more, Rio a capitalist state.
Rio is BY FAR one of the most socialist states in Brazil. So socialist, that it is a "mini Venezuela". The state has literally declared bankrupcy and is very well known for having the biggest public/centralized institutions relative to other states in the country which not surprisingly provide services that are terrible and the "cariocas"(people from Rio de Janeiro state) are literally fleeing the state to other states, because they can't take that shit anymore(Not that the other states are much better, but compared to Rio, they're heaven).
Given the level of ignorance of someone saying crap like that, it is truly a waste of time to talk to someone like that...
