The Zimmerman-Martin case had a lot of "Ambiguity" to it. You speak as if it was certain it was racial. I know a lot of people that would disagree...not that it matters.
I think Zimmer was "probing" for security reasons and Marty became defensive, then things escalated to a "standoff"...leading to a physical altercation. I think Zimmer overreacted using the gun, but he was getting beat up. I will admit that dealing with teenagers is complex, as they are learning to be independent and develop a sense of rebellion. You do have kids? I will also admit that "amateur guards" can lack "tactfulness" in difficult situations. This was just a bad combination!

This isn't anything, try harder. So, he's an asshole, probably is to everyone. I already said "amateurs" lack tact. Martin was overly sensitive and pushed back.
Anyway, I've made over 60 citizens arrests, all with plain clothes, no gun, and a security badge. You wouldn't believe the attacks I had to deal with. People don't respect an authority figure that doesn't have a gun or uniform on, they immediately go into fight or flight defensive mode. It didn't matter how professional I was, I had to deal with violent attacks all the time! I know how these situations escalate. How much experience do you have with this subject?
For that to happen, you would have to be worth the effort, which you have commendably proven yourself not to be.

Wanna be cop meets wanna be thug. What could possibly go wrong? They deserved each other, and had not a incompetent and politically motivated prosecutor overcharged the case just to kiss the ass of the PC mob, Zimmy would be in a jail cell. Once again, the left fucked themselves.
Sure, Zimmerman was a wanna be cop. But he was also a full-on thug, as he was before the incident and as he continued to be afterwards.
