Actually there are two scientists I hang my "global warming hat on," as you say. One is Nir Shaviv, of course, who is at the zenith of his career, and the other is the well known atmospheric physicist Murry Salby, now retired. Salby's work has shown that CO2 is rather unimportant in determining the Earth's surface temperature, but he hasn't shown what is important. Shaviv's work nicely complements Salby's in that Shaviv has shown what is important. Naturally both Shaviv and Salby have been slimed by endless ad hominem attacks emanating from the global warming cultists. The head Cultist PooBah is James Hansen. who has taken to bypassing peer review altogether and is now submitting his pseudo scientific papers directly to the media. Here he is in a 2009 interview.
