So much for Global Warming

Quote from jficquette:

Aren't you the same guy who posts incessantly how Obama won't be allowed in because he won't qualify concerning the constitutional requirement to be born on American soil (or something like that)?

I'm just waiting for you to start running around calling him an N-word...

On topic:

Regardless, even if global warming was a scam, how much can it hurt for us all to reduce emissions, pollute less, etc. At worst, asthma and emphysema decline and we get on cleaner fuels.. I'm all for a breath of fresh air.

On another point of irony, its usually the fundamentalist Christian right wing with their human-centric beliefs that attempts to chastise global warming and evolution ... As if oil was there to be burned, industry was meant to thrive, and humans were entitled to their uninterrupted destruction of the planet and all other life. Should I open a thread 'So much for fairy tales that condone human self centeredness?' Or maybe I should entitle it 'Why are bible believers so hell bent on destroying the planet if their religion is supposed to teach love, beauty and the best of human spirit?' (heheh... here we go)

Just curious, jfcetiquite are you by any chance a devout 'Christian'? Maybe you are the exception and don't fall into the cliche.
I see little point to your posts.

but doing nothing helps the people in the present. and the relationship between CO2 and temperature is not lineair correlated. If you put up the graphs CO2 comes after the temperature increase, not before. Also hot seawater can dissolve less gasses, so will free CO2 if it is hotter. So what is the effect of 6 billion humans breathing out CO2. If CO2 is like oxygen to trees and plants, isn't more CO2 a good thing. It means we will get larger trees and more tropical temperatures. This will offset the destruction that is occurring in the amazone. Tropical forests in western countries are better manageable. It's like going back into dinosaur territory. Also why do we have global cooling over the last few years but less ice (kinda like a pullback in a trend, but CO2 is obviously not pulling back) . It makes no sense whatsoever. And what is the role of sunspots?

basically theres a reason why we had dinosaurs and huge insects and huge trees 100 m length a few million years ago. probably because of more CO2 in the air. i want to see a live dinosaur so i want more CO2!

We will get larger trees? How long does it take to get larger trees? By the time those trees get larger, there may not be any amazon left.

The questions is NOT what is the effect of 6 billion humans breathing out CO2, the question is what is the effect of artifical CO2 producing sources (cars, factories).

No doubt studying global wearther is far far from easy. THere are tons of factors to take into account. And on top of that, weather doesn't change overnight, but over hundreds/thousands of years.

Wow. I've been worrying about the wrong things. Damn. I'm having a difficult time wondering whether I should position the toilet paper to be pulled from the top or bottom.

I find it much easier to pull it from the top. But there are many opinions on this.

Yea I know, that is why the BEST solution is for someone else to tell you what to believe, instead of making your brain hurt from thinking about it yourself.

Yeah. I guess one has to care (passion) about something prior to expending the energy to starting thinking about it. I have no opinion nor spend any energy (other than this message board) thinking about the effects of global warming. I'll leave that to someone else.

I respect Al Gore for at least (regardless of ulterior motive) having an opinion and doing something about it. Everyone else just spouts their opinion while going about their everyday lives. LOL.

I'm frugal and keep my carbon footprint reasonable. That's it for me.

P.S. If we all die because we didn't take care of the earth then so be it. I am not willing nor want to change the world's opinion. I can only do what I choose to do. My purpose to become who I am.

Next time, I'll just reincarnate into a different century with different problems. Yeah, that's what I'll do.

:D

When I expressed doubts about the science behind this to one of my (almost former) friends he got all pissy with me. Said I was "one of them". I didn't say I didn't believe, only that I didn't know. I pointed out that it was rather arrogant to think that we have climate processes all figured out.

It's amazing how few people understand how absurd any conclusion of climate change is when the sum total of recorded scientific data is a micro fraction of an average glacial cycle.

Go fuck yourself. Does that answer your questions?

Quote from cybtropic:

Global warming MAY not be caused by man. The question is can we afford to not do anything if it is?

Something like 80-90% of scienists agree on global warming BUT certain republicans, I mean americans, choose to believe the minority, 10-20%.

Let me give you another example:

Lets say that 90% of scienists have done analysis and find that a huge asteroid will hit earth in 5 years.

But, 10% of scientists believe that the asteroid will pass close to a mars and its moons, and be deflected and will miss earth.

Who do you believe, and what do you prepare for? Apparently, republicans would not act at all, since 10% of scienists think it will miss earth.

It could be the same with global warming. There may be a point of no return past which we may not be able to stop global warming, even if we finally acknowledge it is real and caused by man.

The price for being wrong is too great. The problem is that some people do not care about the future, and they do not care about their children.

THey only care about today. THey don't care that their children will have to pay HUGE taxes, as long as today taxes are low.

The only ones who sponsor global warming is paid for fools like Gore or those on the government cheese with federally funded grants to study it.

So you want to spend trillions just in case these scientists who are being paid to promote global warming are actually right?? How and what would you spend it on??

Quote from jficquette:

Go fuck yourself. Does that answer your questions?

No. That doesn't answer my question, seriously. I'm trying to figure out if you actually have a unique point of view that has some substance behind it or are just a parrot for an ideology... Prove me wrong with substance.

Tell me why lowering pollution levels even if global warming is a scam is such a bad idea.

And tell me would you be posting this same crap about Obama not being a citizen if it were McCain who won? (who I think has a similar dilemma over birth location technicality)

Most of what you write has racist white redneck written all over it... Wonder if the words match the true description.

Quote from Anaconda:

So in proportion, Earth is heating up more than Venus but that does not matter cause the rest o fthe planets are closer to the sun?

Did you bother to investigate that Earth has more insulation that most other planets?

Venus is more insulated then Earth with a much denser atmosphere. It's axial tilt is only 3 degrees compared to Earth's of 23 degrees which indicates no seasons. Venus has a surface temp of 900 degrees.

Global warming jokes claim Earth's global warming on temperature variations less then one degree centigrade in average tempuratures.

CO2 increases because of warming, not the other way around. Humans have nothing to do with it. Its just part of the natural cycle.
