I’m not shocked at all this was leaked but not because of the bogus reasons you state. I’m not shocked because this would be society altering ruling. This ruling, if held, would subject women to the rule of the state and completely alter the application of the constitution. I get many people will shrug it off but it would be a society altering decision. It’s difficult to understate the impact this will have.

Right, the bogus reasons I stated. The world isn't hyper partisan and there aren't people of poor moral character in government. You get an extra ration for your truthyism, Comrade.

I also note the inconsistency of "some folks" to rail against Jan 6th as an attack on democracy, but herald a leak of the highest court in the land, or consider it "no big deal".

And for the record (even though I've stated it many times before here), I am pro-choice.

This unprecedented leak of a Supreme Court draft ruling document is a big deal. IMO it is a bigger deal than the actual decision -- except people on both sides of the abortion argument won't see it this way.

Being a big deal and not being shocked are two very different things. A leak from SCOTUS is a very big deal but in order of magnitude, the decision is absolutely bigger than the leak.

You don’t even need to be pro-choice or pro-life for this issue of the leak.

It's the other way around for some of us.

There might be severe protests by the lefties around the abortion decision and I accept that and their right to do so.

But if things get really out of hand, I do not support shooting and killing any unarmed protesters by panicky, untrained capitol police and because Pelosi refused to call in the national guard even though Trump approved.

It does not prevent abortions at all. It merely shifts it to the states. In other words, abortion would be legal in all states except maybe three or less where it would bump up against their state constitutions.

For years, there have been many pro-abortion people who have argued that they felt safer having it decided at the states as well since it is legal in most states already. Their fear was that a conservative court would do the reverse of what the libs did and find some fake reasoning why the constitution itself says that it is not a states right and it is not allowed by the constitution. Then they would be really screwed.

In any case, sabotaging the supreme court and disagreeing with a decision are two different matters. And yes, the lefties are going to be livid. That's fine.

Im going to try my best not to conflate the leak with the draft ruling. Both are important in their own right.

There are only a few people with access to the court decisions. The Supreme Court justices and their clerks. Clerks should all be investigated by the FBI and charged if proven he or she is the leaker. Too many of these traitors are allowed to keep their jobs without any consequences to their actions. If you worked in the private sector, you would have had your ass fired then, possibly sued for millions on top of it. Assuming they have security cameras and use key cards to enter rooms at the Supreme Court, it should be pretty easy to isolate the most likely guilty party in short order.

It would be unprecedented if one of the justices is the perpetrator.

You can argue that it would never be one of the justices, but we don;t know.

If we were to treat this as a crime scene, it is a simple fact that the justices and their clerks are within the crime scene and then you go from there.

Correct. The legality of abortion is a state by state issue and is nothing for the Federal Government to be involved in. This has always been the proper stance.
